Albums In Video: ... But Seriously - Phil Collins

'...But Seriously' is the fourth full-length studio album by Phil Collins. While much of the album follows the same formula as Collins' previous album, No Jacket Required (1985), there was also a move towards more organic production as Collins chose to utilise live instrumentation instead of drum machines and prominently used keyboards. 

The tone of the album is serious, as the title suggests. Instead of focusing entirely on personal relationships, dark psychedelics, and simple fun, Collins expands his focus to the exploration of socio-economic and political themes. There is great emotional turmoil underneath the polished studio production, and many of the songs are unambiguous and unveiled in their melancholy.

The album spawned many of Collins' most memorable hits. The classic 'Another Day In Paradise', 'Something Happened On The Way To Heaven', 'Hang In Long Enough' and the lesser known but equally as brilliant 'Do You Remember?' and 'That's Just The Way It Is'. With thanks to a hugely successful tour, the album also saw promotional video's for the album, such as 'Colours' and 'All Of My Life', regardless of the songs not being released as singles.

Albums In Video: Loud - Rihanna

Loud is the fifth studio album by Barbadian singer Rihanna, released in November 2010 by Def Jam Recordings. It was recorded between February and August 2010, during the singer's Last Girl on Earth Tour and the filming of her first feature film Battleship. Rihanna was the executive producer of the album and worked with many record producers, including StarGate, Sandy Vee, The Runners, Tricky Stewart and Alex da Kid. The album featured several guest vocalists, including rappers Drake, Nicki Minaj and Eminem, who is featured on the sequel to "Love the Way You Lie", titled "Love the Way You Lie (Part II).

The album differed from Rihanna's 2009 release, Rated R, which incorporated a prominently foreboding and angry tone with dark themes and contained elements of hip hop, rock, and dubstep music genres. Loud featured up-tempo and pop genres, ranging from dance-pop to electro-R&B, and marked the return to her dancehall roots, which was prominent on Rihanna's first two albums "Music of the Sun" (2005) and "A Girl like Me" (2006). The album also incorporated rock in "California King Bed" and reggae in the Caribbean inspired "Man Down".

The album produced seven singles, including the international hits "Only Girl (In the World)", "What's My Name?", and "S&M". All three singles reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. "S&M" was Rihanna's tenth number one song in the US, making Rihanna the youngest recording artist to accumulate the plateau in the shortest time, surpassing Mariah Carey's record. "Only Girl (In the World)" won the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording in February 2011; additionally, the album was nominated for three more Grammy Awards, including for Album of the Year. To support the album, Rihanna embarked on her third worldwide concert tour, entitled the "Loud Tour".

The album's singles produced some amazing music videos. Including the remember-able 'Only Girl (In The World)', the soft 'California King Bed' and the eccentric 'S&M'. Herre are all the music video produced from the Loud era. 

While it does not appear on the album, many felt as though it should have, and 'Who's That Chick' was a very good song. Another song that failed to make the album, yet was a big hit, was 'Fly' a duet with Nicki Minaj.

Albums In Video: + - Ed Sheeran

+ is the debut studio album by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, released through Warner Music on 9 September 2011. The album marks Sheeran's commercial breakthrough, having previously released five EPs independently. Jake Gosling produced the majority of the album, with additional production coming from acclaimed American hip hop producer No I.D.

Upon release, + debuted atop of the UK Albums Chart with first-week sales exceeding 102,000 copies. Media interest surrounding + was fuelled significantly by its two preceding singles—'The A Team' and 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You'—which peaked at number three and number four on the UK Singles Chart respectively. 'Lego House' was released on 11 November 2011 as the album's third single and emulated the chart success of its predecessors, peaking at number five in the UK.

+ was the ninth biggest-selling album of 2011 in the UK, and has since been certified triple platinum by the BPI for sales domestic exceeding 900,000 copies. The album climbed back up to number one on the albums chart on 1 January 2012, fifteen weeks after it last peaked at the top. It was met with generally mixed reviews from music critics.

Albums In Video: I Am... Sasha Fierce - Beyonce

This time it is Beyonce's 'I Am... Sasha Fierce'. 'I Am… Sasha Fierce' is the third studio album by American R&B recording artist Beyoncé. It was released on November 18, 2008, by Columbia Records. The album was released in dual disc format, in which both discs represent a contrasting facet to Knowles' personality and musical style. The first disc, I Am..., incorporates slow and mid-tempo R&B and pop ballads, while the second disc, Sasha Fierce, named after Knowles' on-stage alter ego, contains uptempo dance songs that blend Euro and electropop genres. A deluxe edition of the album was released simultaneously with the standard edition.

I Am... Sasha Fierce debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, having sold 482,000 units in its first week, becoming Knowles' third consecutive US number-one solo album. It became a commercial success, earning at least fifteen platinum certifications in separate markets worldwide. As of March 2011, I Am... Sasha Fierce had sold over seven million copies worldwide, with its digital tracks alone having sold more than 15 million units globally. The album garnered eight Grammy Award nominations at the 52nd annual ceremony, eventually collecting five wins. To promote the album, Knowles made several award show and televised appearances across Europe and America, as well as embarking on the worldwide I Am... Tour.

The album spawned several singles, some serving as international and stateside releases, while others were for promotional purposes. The two lead singles from I Am... Sasha Fierce, "If I Were a Boy" and "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)", were both international chart toppers. The former topped the charts in over eight countries and reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100, while the latter peaked inside the top ten in several major music markets, becoming her fifth number one single on the Hot 100 chart. "Diva" and "Ego" were released as US-only singles, while "Halo" and "Sweet Dreams" were promoted internationally as the third and fourth singles respectively. "Broken-Hearted Girl" was released internationally as the fifth single and "Video Phone", the final single, was released in November 2009.

I thought I would start a new feature in which I post all the music video's from an album. I've done that with all of Michael Jackson's albums and thought it would work really well with some other albums. I'm starting with Enrique Iglesias's bilingual 'Euphoria'. It is the ninth studio album Enrique. The album features guest appearances by Akon, Usher, Juan Luis Guerra, Pitbull, Nicole Scherzinger , Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Wisin and Yandel and Ludacris.
