The Definitive Film Concert - Set List

This is what I would love to see from a high budget, Oscars style, event. Celebrating almost 100 years of great music from movies, the concert would bring together some of the greatest actors/actresses and singers to create a show like no other. This would be amazing if it ever happened.

Acts Leaked For Olympics Closing Ceremony

They’ve all been sworn to secrecy. But some of the acts performing at the Closing Ceremony of the London Olympics have already been leaked. The two and a half hour ceremony opens at 9 pm on Sunday London time (6am Monday in Australia EST).

The event at Olympic Stadium, with 4,100 performers, marks 50 years of British music. Many will join the London Symphony Orchestra to perform one of their hits. Muse, who were approached five months ago, will perform Survival, the Olympics theme song, which drummer Dom Howard told the NME he is “happy with.” He added, It's a proper Muse song … it (represents) the enormous competition of what the Olympics is".

George Michael tweeted, "Obviously a bit nervous not having played for nearly a year, but rehearsals sounding great so far!” The Who’s Roger Daltrey revealed they had recorded a piece of music that is a “fabulous ending for the Olympics”.

Ed Sheeran teased, “I might be playing with quite a big rock band and I might be playing one of their most famous hits. Might be. And if I was doing that, it would feel quite fun, I think." He’s apparently joining Pink Floyd doing Wish You Were Here, although Floyd deny it.

One Direction were spotted at rehearsals this week, held at a disused site at the Ford factory in Dagenham. A reunited Spice Girls, Madness, Ray Davies of the Kinks, Adele, Queen, Pet Shop Boys, Liam Gallagher's Beady Eye and Elbow are all rumoured. Kate Bush speculation began over the last few days when a 2012 remix version of her Running Up That Hill was posted on Amazon, and then quickly removed. It will presumably return on the day after the super-concert.

Speculation has Paul McCartney returning after headlining the Opening Ceremony for a payment of £1. So are Elton John and Mick Jagger. Take That are a question mark now after tragedy struck singer Gary Barlow this week: his new daughter Poppy was still-born. Count The Smiths out, especially with frontman Morrissey blasting the Games for their "blustering jingoism" (plus there are other obvious reasons).

The music director of the Closing Ceremony is film composer David Arnold, whose track record includes five Bond films, the TV series Little Britain and Sherlock. After working on it for two years and putting in 17-hour days these past weeks, he says it will be “the greatest after-party in the world. If the Opening Ceremony was the wedding, then we’re the wedding reception.”

A Symphony of British Music: Music For The Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, an album containing music performed on the final night, will be released digitally on August 12.
