Prince - Musicology Tour, Memphis 2004

Every Prince concert is different and you never know what to expect. I recently downloaded his Musicology Tour in Memphis. The set list is amazing. Although the show was to promote his 2004 'Musicology' album, the show only featured 2 songs from that album but instead was filled with hits, rarely performed live songs and cover versions. Prince rocked out for almost 2 hours 30 minutes and this is the set list in full.

Lady Gaga Performs At Europride

Lady Gaga performed on stage during Roma Europride 2011 at Circo Massimo on Saturday in Rome, Italy. Gaga performed two stripped down versions of her hit songs 'Born This Way' and 'The Edge of Glory' while accompanying herself on the piano.

During the middle of 'The Edge of Glory,' Gaga stood up and took the skirt from her outfit off and draped it across the piano.

'Just a little costume change in the middle never hurt anybody,' Gaga said.

This is defiantly one of the best songs from the 'Michael' album and would have been great if he could have made an official video himself however this fan made official video is very good. Katy Perry - Last Friday Night

I'm not usually a fan of Katy Perry but her new music video for 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)' is very good. Featuring members of Glee, Rebecca Black and boyband Hanson the video is alot of fun.

Barbra Streisand - What Matters Most

 

Yesterday, PBS broke the news that Barbra's new album will be titled 'What Matters Most: Barbra Streisand Sings The Lyrics of Alan and Marilyn Bergman'.

 

The announcement came during the ad-break of Barbra's 2009 Village Vanguard Concert which was airing on PBS at the time. PBS announced that the album will be released in August, and will feature 10 tracks including:

X Men: First Class

Recently saw the new X Men film and it was really good. Best one since number 2 i recon. Kevin Bacon was brilliant as the main bad guy. Good cameo from Hugh Jackman and its always to hear Take That when you forget they did the main song. It wasn't a 'pointless' prequel either. Unlike some prequels this film actually told a story which reveals more about the characters you already know such as Magneto and Charles Xavier. Really looking forward to number 2 now.

Lady Gaga Performs On Germanys Next Top Model

Lady Gaga just gave an amazing performance on Germany's Next Top Model. She performed the opening section of 'Schiße', a piano rendition of 'Born This Way' and the proper version of 'The Edge Of Glory'. With bright blue hair and surrounded by bundles of money, walking through guillotines, the performance was amazing.

Rihanna Loud Tour Set List And Review

Rihanna has started her 'Loud' Tour. The concept of which the show stage was built is a giant speaker cabinet indicating the name of the tour. The show starts with a blitzkrieg of video, as four hanging, shifting circular video screens joined four giant stationary ones that project Rihanna's arrival. She wore an electric blue mini-trenchcoat and pink stilleto boots with neon green heels and performed 'Only Girl (In the World)' the lead single from Loud. After finishing the song she revealed a day-glo bikini and continued singing with 'Disturbia' and 'Shut Up and Drive' from her 2007 album Good Girl Gone Bad. She continued with a standing performance of 'Man Down'.

Before showing an S&M inspired set she performed a cover Prince's 'Darling Nikki' during which Rihanna, dressed in a tuxedo and toting a cane, spanked, groped and pretended to smack three nearly nude female dancers. She transitioned into 'S&M' and she had stripped off her tuxedo and revealed a white bondage corset and she was wearing handcuffs. Then she performed 'Skin', a song from Loud, where on each concert she invited a fan on whom she gave a lap dance.

She gave an interlude to 'Raining Men' and continued to a military themed set, which started with 2009 'Hard'. The pink tank from Last Girl on Earth Tour was also present. 'Breakin' Dishes' was also performed with elements of 'The Glamorous Life'. At the end of the set she gave a medley of her collaborations 'Run This Town' and 'Live Your Life'.

After the set, she came back on stage with a yellow dress on a platform where she gave a solo of her hits 'Unfaithful', 'Hate That I Love You' and 'California King Bed'. She continued with a West Indian inspired performance of her hits 'What's My Name?' and 'Rude Boy'. After that Rihanna performed the party anthem 'Cheers (Drink to That)' and 'Don't Stop the Music' and finished the set with the R&B ballad 'Take a Bow'.

She finished the tour with an encore of her sequel hit with Eminem 'Love the Way You Lie (Part II)' and 'Umbrella'.

Beyonce's '4' Review

‘1+1’ is a lovely song with amazing lyrics. Beautifully arranged and I can listen to it over and over again. Definitely one of the strongest songs on the album. Next up is ‘I Care’ which is another nice song. Not one of the stand out songs but definitely one of the best. Then the album continues with ‘I Miss You’. The song seems a little short but due to the stupid track list of the album (with far too many ballads together at the start) you kind of look forward to the end of the track. Not the songs fault as it is actually quite good but the album needs rearranging with a more upbeat number at the start. ‘The Best Thing I Never Had’ is definitely one of the biggest songs on the album. It is also the second official single and it is one of my favourites and I think people will warm to it much more than the first single. The fifth track is ‘Party’ with Andre 3000 and Kanye West. The first upbeat song and, in my opinion, the worst track on the album. It has a weak chorus and uninviting verses. The fact that the song has guest stars also brings nothing to the song. ‘Rather Die Young’ is a nice song with interesting lyrics. Not a stand out track but again a very good song and very enjoyable to listen to. ‘Start Over’ is another nice ballad but again due to the terrible track list arrangement by this point of the album on first listen you are past caring about hearing another ballad. On further listens however this song plays out a lot better and has a nice arrangement and nice lyrics. ‘Love On Top’ is another one of my favourites. With an upbeat old school beat and melody this is the fast paced song you are dying to hear at this point. Then comes ‘Countdown’. The song is good and experiments with a number countdown that pays off after a few listens. ‘End Of Time’, a song that has been leaked for about a week previous to the albums leak is one of my favourites. The drum pattern is very interesting and hooks you from the start. After comes ‘I Was Here’ and it is one of the best songs lyrically. I really like the meaning behind the song and in my eyes is the last song on the album. However in reality there is one more song to come. ‘Run The World (Girls)’ is the last song on the album. Since its official release the song has not grown on me (or many others due to its poor sales) and I don’t think the song fits on the album at all. ‘4’ is full of ballads and soul tracks and then out of nowhere the album finishes with a club techno track. In conclusion the album is good with some interesting tracks but feels ‘thrown together’ as a result of awkward track listing.

The Inbetweeners Film [100th Post]

The Inbetweeners is an upcoming film directed by Ben Palmer, who directed all six episodes of the second series of The Inbetweeners. Even though the plot has yet to be confirmed, what has been announced is that the film will follow the four boys on holiday in Malia, Crete. Filming began on 6 February 2011, with filming beginning in Mallorca, Spain on 19 February 2011. It stars Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison, who all play their respective characters from the 2008 sitcom. Film4 and E4 are funding the film, and it will be released in cinemas on 19 August 2011.

In the film the boys meet a group of four girls while on holiday to Malia, Crete. Scenes are said to include fantasist Jay being terrorised by a nine-year-old local who pulls his swimming trunks down; Will getting sunburn in the shape of a penis; and Neil getting intimate with a dinner lady from his junior school as well as getting a dodgy tattoo. The boys indulge in shambolic skinny-dipping and ‘suicide shots’ of tequila, while Simon nearly drowns after a boat trip.

According to Smart’s Bizarre column ‘the best scene in the film involves Will reserving sunbeds, an angry hardman and a child in a wheelchair’.The cast revealed in an interview on Alan Carr's 'Chatty Man' show that they had already travelled to Malia to film a thirty second sequence on Malia's infamous club strip.

Microsoft E3 Press Conference

Microsoft’s E3 press conference starts in about 20 minutes, but one of the company’s biggest announcements has already begun making the rounds. This morning, Microsoft’s E3 landing page prematurely launched and clued us in to some new features coming to Xbox Live and upgraded Kinect capabilities, as well as a few new Kinect titles. More traditional Xbox fanboys will also be thrilled to hear there are not one but two new Halo titles coming to a console near you. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary will be available in HD, maybe even 3D. The site also reads “Halo 4 is one the way,” and we’ll hear soon enough the details about this title.

As for the new Xbox Live features, Microsoft is altering the UI and adding voice search, something Steve Ballmer touched on at CES earlier this year. For the Kinect, users will be getting new titles like Dance Central 2, Kinect Star Wars, Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster, and Kinect Sports Season 2. Kinect won’t only be getting some added games but some upgraded features. Users will be able to create custom avatars and share them with friends. There’s also Kinect Sparklers, which takes your photo and then lets you wave digital sparklers in the air around you.

Thought it was about time that I made a Simply Red definitive collection. Thier last greatest hits collection, although it was a good album, sumed up thier 25 year reign of the charts with just 25 songs, which didn't seem enough. So I have made my own.

Whitney Houston Diagnosed With Emphysema

On the heels of canceled live performances, Whitney Houston now has a much more serious low to battle — Emphysema (a disease which targets the lungs and respiratory system). According to the National Enquirer, doctors informed the singer that she is suffering from early stages of the lung disease, an obvious culprit to Houston’s poorly received vocal performances, as of late.

“She’s developed emphysema — and her doctors are warning her she’ll die a horrible death,” a friend of the singer told the Enquirer.

Medical professionals have also told Houston, 47, that if she does not completely kick her smoking habit there is no doubt that the disease could take her life.

In early April, Houston canceled several of her European tour shows due to a respiratory infection. The tour was initially conceived to promote Houston’s 2009 comeback album, ‘I Look To You’ — her first album in seven years. I hope that Whitney gets better as soon as possible and continues to be one of the greatest entertainers of our time.

Patrick Dempsy Leaving Grey's Anatomy

Patrick Dempsey is checking out of ‘Grey’s Anatomy‘ after the forthcoming eighth season. One of the shows last standing originals, Dempsey may have found his closure with working on the popular medical drama on ABC. The decision seems to be more of a career choice rather than financial; there comes a time when an actor no longer wants to continue. Steve Carell leaving The Office was this past season’s big departure (that was planned); will Dempsey’s be the one headlining next year?

There is talk that the eighth season in itself may be the series’ last – a decision of which has been in the talks far before Dempsey confirmed his departure. Personally, I feel that the show should completely end after McDreamy leaves. Apart from Meridith the show is pretty much built around him and his relationship with Meridith. After all the shows departures (George, Izzy, Addison and Preston Burke to name only a few) they have still managed to keep the show going and keep it strong. However getting rid of Derek could be something, even their amazing writers, can't write around.
