George Michael Returns To Symphonica Tour

Singer George Michael has resumed his Symphonica tour in Vienna, thanking the medical staff who treated him for near-fatal pneumonia in the city last year. The star returned to the stage at Wiener Stadthalle after postponing the tour in November when he fell ill. Some 300 staff from Vienna's General Hospital attended the show, after being given tickets as a thank you gift. "This is one of the greatest honours of my life, to sing to the men and women who saved my life," he said.

After telling the crowd it was "great to be alive", he performed a rendition of Nina Simone's Feeling Good at the request of one of the doctors. Backed by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, Michael sang renditions of Rufus Wainwright's Going To A Town and Sting's Roxanne as well as his own hits. He also performed his new single White Light, inspired by his near-death experience. "I think given the manner of men and women who did save my life, we could not go without singing this song," he said.

Michael donated 1,000 tickets to medical staff. However, Austrian media reported that, with the singer's permission, the hospital sold its remaining tickets to raise money for lung disease research. The singer had completed 46 of the original 65 dates of his European tour when he was taken ill hours before he was due to perform in Vienna.

Diagnosed with severe pneumonia, he spent a month in intensive care. He revealed last month he had been "very close" to death and the experience had left a five-week gap in his memory. Following a second date in Vienna on Wednesday, Michael will perform in Paris for an Aids charity gala this weekend and then in Amsterdam before moving on to the UK.

Kylie Minogue - The Abbey Road Sessions - Album Art & Tracklisting

Kylie Minogue releases her brand new album "The Abbey Road Sessions" on Parlophone Records on October 29. The album features sixteen tracks, all radically reworked, spanning Kylie’s incredible 25 year career. The album was recorded in London’s legendary Abbey Road Studios with Kylie’s band and a full orchestra.

Nick Cave re-recorded his vocal on the famous duet, "Where The Wild Roses Grow", especially for the album. Other highlights of the album include a wonderfully poignant "Better The Devil You Know", the ever-amazing "Confide In Me", a sultry "On A Night Like This", a joyous "All The Lovers", the beautiful "Finer Feelings" and a version of "The Locomotion" which swaggers with true 1950’s panache.

Over all 16 tracks one thing becomes very clear – stripped of her high end pop production, the emotional resonance of many of Kylie’s songs has never been clearer, nor has her voice ever sounded better. Kylie will perform most tracks from the album with the BBC Symphony Orchestra this Saturday September 8th at London’s Hyde Park, headlining Proms In the Park.

Robbie Williams & Gary Barlow Team Up For 'Candy'

Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow have teamed up again on a new single. The singers famously marked the end of their feud with duet 'Shame' in 2010. Robbie followed up their No2 tune that year by re-joining Take That for their Progress album and subsequent stadium tour.

And now the singer has recruited Gary to help him pen a new song, 'Candy', which will be Robbie’s first single from his upcoming solo album. Announcing next month’s release this morning, Robbie said: "Some songs take an age to write and some songs just fall out of your mouth completely formed, and you don't have to think about it. "I don't know why that fell out of my mouth and out of my brain at that particular time - it just did."

Robbie also revealed his Take That comeback was merely a time-filler during a break from his solo career. He said: "After the Take That reunion - a busman's holiday, a break from my career which re-energised me in many, many ways - I wanted to come back with a massive solo album."

His ninth studio album 'Take The Crown' comes out on November 5, one week after the release of 'Candy'.
The father-to-be recorded the 11-song collection in Los Angeles and also features a duet with US singer Lissie on a song called 'Losers'.

Michael Clarke Duncan Dies Aged 54

Tom Hanks has led tributes to Michael Clarke Duncan, the US actor best known for playing a death row inmate in the 1999 drama The Green Mile. Duncan died at the age of 54, less than eight weeks after suffering a heart attack, a spokeswoman said.

Hollywood star Hanks said he was "stunned" at the news of his passing.
I am terribly saddened at the loss of Big Mike. He was the treasure we all discovered on the set of The Green Mile. He was magic. He was a big love of man and his passing leaves us stunned.
Duncan died at a hospital in Los Angeles, his fiance, the reality television star Omarosa Manigault, said in a statement provided by Duncan's publicist, Joy Fehily. "Manigault is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time," Fehily said. Details on the cause of Duncan's death were not released. He suffered a heart attack on July 13th and "never fully recovered," Fehily said.

Frank Darabont, who directed Duncan in The Green Mile, also paid tribute to the deep-voiced and hulking 6-foot-5 actor:
Michael was the gentlest of souls - an exemplar of decency, integrity and kindness. The sadness I feel is inexpressible.
Duncan's other main screen credits include the 2002 film The Scorpion King, the 2003 comic book movie Daredevil, and the 2005 release Sin City. He also did voice work for the 2008 animated film Kung Fu Panda, a decade after the former bodyguard's movie career took off with a small part in 1998 hit Armageddon.
