Trailer for the new VH1 Storytellers CD/DVD from Alicia Keys.

Jay Z & Justin Timberlake - Wireless Festival - Legends Of Summer Tour - Review

It was the hottest gig of the year – literally – as Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z premiered their Legends of Summer tour in scorching sunshine.

And the temperature was cranked up higher when Rihanna made a surprise appearance alongside the two music heavyweights to perform hit tune Run This Town.

She flaunted her cleavage while giving a a peek of her chest tattoo as the Bajan singer told the crowd they were “on one” after her dazzling cameo.

The two-hour 40-minute mammoth set extravaganza capped off the third and final night at Wireless Festival, which saw a former boy bander and a super-cool rapper perform headline slots as solo acts on the Friday and Saturday respectively.

But it was their collaboration on Sunday night which stole the attention over the festival at London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Justin and Jay-Z performed their popular hits as well as mash-ups of their songs in a similar style to the rapper’s collaboration with Linkin Park.

Super-cool Justin even played guitar for iconic track 99 Problems, while they expertly fused Senorita with Excuse Me Miss.

Other acts who performed at Wireless included A$AP Rocky, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, will.i.am, Rita Ora, Emeli Sande and rising star Mikill Pane.

Cory Monteith Found Dead At 31

Glee star Cory Monteith has been found dead in a Vancouver hotel.

The 31-year-old, who played Finn Hudson in the Fox TV hit, was found dead at the Pacific Rim Hotel in the city centre on Saturday, said police.

The cause of death was not immediately apparent, but police have ruled out foul play.

Monteith, who had been in the musical comedy since its 2009 start, was treated for drug addiction in April, and had a history of substance-abuse.

His body was found by Pacific Rim staff after he missed his check-out time at midday on Saturday, said Vancouver's Deputy Police Chief Doug Lepard. Monteith had been dead for several hours, he added.
The actor had returned to his room at the Pacific Rim alone early on Saturday morning having been out with friends earlier in the evening, said Mr Lepard.

Calgary-born Monteith had checked into the hotel on 6 July.

In response to a question about whether the actor died of a drug overdose, Mr LePard said he would "not discuss anything that we might have found in the room at this time".

Coroner Lisa Lapointe said: "We do not have a great deal of information as to cause of death."

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Monteith described himself on Twitter as "tall, awkward, canadian, actor, drummer, person".

He was treated for drug abuse aged 19 and had been open about his battle against addiction, telling one interviewer he took "anything and everything".

When he entered rehab in April this year, girlfriend Lea Michele issued a statement saying she loved and supported Cory. "I am grateful and proud he made this decision," she added.

Michele played Monteith's opposite number Rachel Berry in Glee, which follows a group of American secondary school misfits who form the glee club in their quest for singing contest glory.

As Hudson, Monteith played the school's star quarterback who risks alienation by his friends after joining the club.

Known for its melodic covers and celebrity cameo appearances, Glee's four series had made global celebrities of its cast. The show featured guest spots by Britney Spears, Gwyneth Paltrow and Neil Patrick Harris.

Cory Monteith had not featured in the final episodes of the fourth series earlier this year and was understood to be seeking treatment for his addiction issues.

He had been expected to take part in the filming of the fifth series, due to air in the US in September.
TV network Fox offered its thoughts and prayers to Monteith's family.

"Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person," said a statement by Fox. "He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously."

Glee co-stars expressed their shock at his death and offered condolences to his loved ones.

Dot-Marie Jones, who plays the butch-but-sensitive American football coach at Glee's William McKinley High, tweeted: "I have no words! My heart is broken. Cory was not only a hell of a friend, he was one amazing man that I will hold close to my heart forever."

Iqbal Theba, who plays the school's Principal Figgins, tweeted simply: "OMG!! My Cory..."

Lady Gaga - ARTPOP - Leaked Tracklist

A graphic that looks like the possible album cover, as well as the track listing, for Lady Gaga‘s much anticipated new album ‘ARTPOP’ has leaked online.

There is no confirmation if it’s the real thing or a fake, but the fact that it leaked the same day as a longer snippet of the dance track ‘Feel It’ makes us think something is up in the state of Gaga, who has been flying way too low on the radar since she had hip surgery. Notice that ‘Feel It’ is not listed here, thickening the Mama Monster plot.

The cover features Gaga in a multi-colored, rainbow-like wig, which she pairs with arched brows and defined lips.

This edition would have 20 tracks, including ‘Burqa’ and ‘Ratchet,’ featuring Beyonce and ‘Red Flame,’ featuring Azealia Banks. We’ve heard about these tracks before.

There is also ‘Crown of Roses’ featuring her good pal Elton John, her godsons’ father.

Gaga had said that ‘Princess Die’ might not make ‘ARTPOP’ so perhaps this is the deluxe edition, since it’s listed as the final song? She also said that the album might have two volumes.

Other tracks include ‘Stiletto,’ ‘Sex Dreams’ and ‘G.U.Y. (Girl Under You)‘, the latter of which is a track we’ve heard about before, as well.

This looks like it could be legit, but we don’t know. It could be the work of an enterprising little monster, with a lot of time on their hands and some serious creative moxie, who pieced together a lot of info that has been circulating about the album and on the web while we await solid and concrete info.

If it is the track list and it was not leaked intentionally, then someone’s about to get canned.

This is what the album tracklisting reads like.
  1. Martyr Of Fame
  2. ARTPOP
  3. Stiletto
  4. Sex Dreams
  5. Burqa
  6. Ratchet
  7. Tea
  8. G.U.Y (Girl Under You)
  9. The Applause
  10. Kill The Bitch
  11. Red Flame
  12. The Element Of Crime
  13. Nothing On (But The Radio)
  14. Antidote
  15. Private In Public
  16. Victory Of Medusa
  17. Crown Of Roses
  18. Blonde Fox
  19. Me & The Stage
  20. Princess Die

Lady Gaga - ARTPOP Details

Lady Gaga has announced the official pre-order and release dates for ARTPOP, her new album, and also the app through which it will be delivered to smartphones and tablets.

Both album and app will be pre-orderable from 1 September, according to a post on Gaga's Facebook page, before their official release date of 11 November.

"Built by TechHAUS, the technological branch of HAUS OF GAGA, the app itself is a musical and visual engineering system that combines art, fashion, and technology with a new interactive worldwide community – 'the auras'," explains the post, which doesn't skimp on grand claims (or capital letters).
"Altering the human experience with social media, we bring ARTculture into POP in a reverse Warholian expedition.
Exploring Gaga's existence as a cultural interface, the user will share in the 'adrenaline of fame; as they build and share their own projects, chat with one another, and watch in real-time on a virtual globe as ARTPOP explodes onto the physical and virtual universe at once on November 11, our 'BIG BANG!' On this day, HAUS OF GAGA venges with forte to bring the music industry into a new age: an age where art drives pop, and the artist once again is in control of the 'icon'."
The album launch will be preceded by "an evening of artRave" including collaborations with photographers Inez & Vinoodh, theatre director Robert Wilson, and artists Marina Abramović and Jeff Koons.

It's the app that promises to be most intriguing, though. It's the most high-profile album-as-app since Bjork's Biophilia in 2011, which was initially released for iPad as a collection of interactive sections: one per song.

Gaga actually announced plans for the ARTPOP app in September 2012 on her Little Monsters website, promising fans that "the most major way to fully immerse yourself in ARTPOP is through the APP". It sounds like the creative vision for the app has remained roughly the same since then:
"ARTPOP will be released as an IPAD, iPhone, mobile and computer compatible application (WORLD) that is completely interactive with chats, films for every song, extra music, content, gaga inspired games, fashion updates, magazines, and more still in the works! I will also be able to upload new things to the APP all the time, the same way i upload to twitter and LM.com."
Most major music artists have an app of some kind nowadays, although in most cases a relatively simple one that pulls in social media updates and YouTube videos while pointing fans out to buy music, tickets and merchandise.

Others have taken a different approach. Snoop Dogg was making $30k a week from sales of digital stickers in his Snoopify photo-sharing app in June this year, while Trey Songz was reportedly making $54k a month from sales of virtual items within his Angel Network fanclub app earlier in the year.
Biophilia remains the most creatively-ambitious artist app, but also a bigger financial risk – it was rumoured to have cost more than $500k to develop, but sales figures have never been released for the iOS version. A Kickstarter campaign to raise £375k to port the app to Android and Windows 8 was cancelled 10 days in after failing to pick up steam.

Lady Gaga looks to be pulling out all the stops for the ARTPOP app in order to make it the most successful artist app yet, and prove there's a business model for apps as a format for music distribution. But also to continue making the case for the album itself as a music format.

"An app can demand all of your senses and attention at once. That's something exciting for musicians," said Scott Snibbe, who worked with Bjork on Biophilia, talking in October 2011. A lot of them lament the demise of the album experience due to digital distribution. But one thing about the app-album is it reclaims people's attention for an entire album."

Lady Gaga will certainly have people's attention on 11 November. It remains to be seen if ARTPOP can kick off a new wave of album-as-app projects from her peers.

Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 Experience Part 2 - Album Details

Justin Timberlake debuted 'Take Back The Night', the first new music from 'The 20/20 Experience Part 2' earlier this week. And now, there is a lot more information about the upcoming release including cover art, pre-order information and how the album will be released.

The cover art appears to be a negative of sorts of Part 1. The background is black to part 1's white and where "JT" was gold on Part 1's cover and the optical equipment silver, on Part 2 they are reversed.

Also, Timberlake has apparently abandoned the aesthetic that made the album title make sense. Both parts were supposed to contain 10 tracks, resulting in a full album of 20 songs. However, he has added an additional song to Part 2 making the album 21 tracks, in total.

"I originally recorded a massive amount of material and decided on the 20 tracks that I wanted on the album over a year ago," Timberlake said. "But, when I was mixing and going through all of the songs there were so many that I loved - I couldn't resist... I had to throw in something extra on the 2nd half."

The album drops September 30 and is available for pre-order on iTunes now. In addition to Part 2, the double album will be available in its entirety as The 20/20 Experience, The Complete Experience. Pre-ordering either will give users a download of 'Take Back The Night'.

Emeli Sandé - Our Version Of Events Tour - Revised Set List

This is what I would like to see from a revised set list of Emeli's 'Our Version Of Events' tour. It would feature all the songs from her album of the same name, however the purpose for the revision would be to feature new songs from her upcoming second album ('Enough', 'Pluto' and 'This Much Is True') and future projects ('Who Needs The World') and also songs which she has featured in ('Free', 'Lifted' and 'More Than Anything') recently. The show could be perceived as a story so far type concert as it features the majority of what Emeli has created so far whilst also looking at the music to come.
  1. Daddy (Opening Introduction)
  2. Heaven
  3. Daddy
  4. Tiger (originally a bonus track from 'Our Version Of Events')
  5. Who Needs The World (New song from her upcoming EP of the same name)
  6. Breaking The Law (album version into alternate version)
  7. Free (from Rudimental's album 'Home')
  8. Suitcase
  9. My Kind Of Love (featuring extensive audience participation at the end)
  10. Pluto (New song)
  11. Clown
  12. More Than Anything (from Rudimental's album 'Home')
  13. Enough (New song)
  14. River
  15. Lifetime/Where I Sleep

Lady Gaga - ZRocka Megamix

Lady Gaga megamix.

Elton John - Home Again - Lyric Video

This is Elton John back to his best. Love this new single.

Elton John Lucky To Be Alive After Appendicitis

Sir Elton John has said he is "lucky to be alive" after being diagnosed with appendicitis. The singer told The Sun he had performed 10 concerts in "agony" on his European tour before he called in doctors. "I was a ticking time bomb. I guess I could have died at any time," he said. According to his website, he is on a course of "intensive antibiotics" and is expected to undergo surgery "in the coming weeks".

Sir Elton has had to postpone a series of summer festival dates including shows in Italy, Germany and London's Hyde Park this week. A spokesman said the diagnosis had been made "following a number of exploratory scans and blood tests with his medical team in the UK". He confirmed the singer would not return to touring until he had fully recovered from both the planned surgery and any damage caused by the appendix abscess. "Elton is incredibly disappointed to postpone these tour dates," he said. "To know that he made such super-human efforts and continued to perform to thousands through his illness only confirms his dedication to his European fans. "He is eager to be back on top form and return to play the remaining shows starting in early September 2013."

Sir Elton had been due to perform at the Collisioni festival in Italy on Tuesday, with further shows in Germany on Thursday and a headline gig at London's Hyde Park on Friday. British Summer Time festival organisers AEG Live said the Hyde Park show would still go ahead with Elvis Costello and former Kinks frontman Ray Davies on the bill, with existing ticket holders receiving a full refund.
Other July dates now scrapped include festivals in Spain, France and Monaco.

Sir Elton is due back in the UK in September, performing at the First Direct Arena in Leeds and at Bestival before heading back to Las Vegas for a month-long residency at The Colosseum.
