Meat Loaf had to pull out of a live TV show, just moments after viewers saw him messing around for the cameras. The Bat Out Of Hell singer - currently promoting his latest release - was seen balancing a banana on his head as he awaited his slot on ITV1's Loose Women. But later in the show, presenter Andrea McLean had to explain to viewers that he was no longer able to appear. She said: "I'm afraid that Meat Loaf has taken unwell so he's unable to join us for the end of the show."
A spokeswoman for the show was unable to give details of his condition. Meat Loaf's representatives later said the singer was resting and was expected to quickly return to good health. A statement issued on the US star's behalf said: "He's got a mild case of the flu and has been advised by doctors to rest after a gruelling international schedule promoting Hell In A Handbasket. "Meat is expected to make a quick, full recovery."
It is not the first time the American has been taken ill during a public appearance. Last year, he collapsed during a concert and, when collecting a prize at the Q Awards in London in 2009, he appeared disoriented, which was later put down to an attack of vertigo.
