Conrad Murray Sentanced To 4 Years For Michael Jackson's Death

Michael Jackson's personal physician Conrad Murray has been handed the maximum jail term of four years and three weeks for the involuntary manslaughter of the pop star. Judge Michael Pastor told the shamed cardiologist he had displayed a "horrific violation of trust" in caring for Jackson.

Earlier this month, Murray, 58, was found guilty of giving the superstar a fatal overdose of the anaesthetic propofol. Before his death on June 25, 2009, Jackson was preparing to perform a series of farewell concerts at London's O2 venue, bowing out on an illustrious music career spanning several decades while aiming to restore his fortunes.

Prosecutors asked Judge Pastor for 100 million dollars (£64 million) compensation which they said Jackson would have earned as a result of the 50 concerts. They also asked for 1.8 million dollars (£1.15 million) to cover the funeral costs. Murray sat quietly with his hands crossed as Judge Pastor sentenced him, bowing his head slightly after the jail term was announced. "Dr Murray created a set of circumstances and became involved in a cycle of horrible medicine," said Judge Pastor. "The practise of propofol for medicine madness, which violated his sworn obligation, for money, fame, prestige and whatever else may have occurred."

Judge Pastor said one of the most disturbing aspects of Murray's case was a slurred recording of Jackson found on the doctor's mobile phone. "That tape recording was Dr Murray's insurance policy," the judge said. "It was designed to record his patient surreptitiously at that patient's most vulnerable point." Prosecutors at Los Angeles Superior Court said Murray has shown no remorse for Jackson's death and has placed blame on others, including Jackson himself.

Below is the entire sentencing.

My Top 10 Favourite Albums Of All Time - #1: Older - George Michael

Number 1 is George Michael's amazing album 'Older', released in 1996. Every song on this album tells an amazing story and is sung beautifully.

Mental News: Racist Woman On The Train

This video has been doing the rounds on Facebook and Youtube today. Shocking. Police last night arrested a woman after a passenger allegedly burst into a vile racist rant on a tram while holding a child on her knee. The video, posted on YouTube, shows a woman hurling abuse at other passengers on the South London tram and baiting them with xenophobic insults.

Officers said a 34-year-old woman from New Addington has been arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and is being questioned by police. The arrest follows an appeal by the British Transport officers who asked the media to publicise the video to help identify her. The footage appears to have been discreetly captured by a passenger as the tram travelled from Croydon to Wimbledon.

Throughout the shocking two minutes of footage the woman's little boy sits nervously as his mother begins the heated confrontation. At one point the woman declares other passengers should go back to their own country, saying they're not British because they are black. Horrified onlookers appear to be uncertain whether the women is drunk while she is making the comments.

The woman says: 'None of you are ****ing English. Get back to your own country. Sort your own countries, don't come and do mine. 'It's nothing now. Britain is nothing now. Britain is **** all. My Britain is **** all.' At one point she claims passengers in the carriage are '****ing burnt people.' Already 10,000 members of the public have watched the film, after it was posted on Youtube, on Sunday, by LadyK89. Comments by one viewer called The Specialscrew, read: 'As a white British male, I feel disgusted to even be associated with this woman by my race and nationality.'

My Top 10 Favourite Albums Of All Time - #2: Purple Rain - Prince

Prince's 'Purple Rain' is a soundtrack album to the film of the same name. However unlike most soundtracks this album stands alone as one of the best albums of all time in most peoples lists. Although only 9 songs long each song is filled with music genius and pure talent. Unfortunatly, Prince does not allow his music online and therefore their is very limited ways of displaying it on this site. However there are a few live performances and music videos of songs from the 'Purple Rain' album.

My Top 10 Favourite Albums Of All Time - #3: Face Value - Phil Collins

This whole album, from way back in 1981, is about a marriage break up but done in such a way that not every song is depressing and the lyrics still manage to shine through. With this album, apart from 'In The Air Tonight', the best songs are those that were never released as singles. Such as 'You Know What I Mean', 'I'm Not Moving' and 'If Leaving Me Is Easy'.

Will Young - Echoes Tour - Audience Footage

Here are some amazing audience filmed performances from Will Young's latest tour. 'Evergreen' is amazing. To take a pop song from 10 years ago and turn it into that is brilliant. This tour saw him enter the stage dressed as an old man also.

Lady Gaga - Marry The Night - Second Teaser Video

Lady Gaga has unveiled the second teaser for her 'Marry The Night' video. The singer posted the second of two teaser videos earlier (November 25), which sees her taking a dance class. Gaga released a still image from the video last week, which sees Gaga with brown hair being wheeled through an old-fashioned hospital on a bed by two nurses. Lady Gaga has filmed the video for her new single 'Marry The Night' in New York. The full video for 'Marry The Night' will debut in full in the coming weeks. 'Marry The Night' is released on November 21 and is the latest single to be taken from Lady Gaga's smash hit album 'Born This Way'.

George Michael Getting Better, Claims New Boyfriend

George Michael’s boyfriend told yesterday how he is keeping vigil at his bedside and revealed: “He’s getting better by the hour.” Fadi Fawaz has been at the singer’s side ever since he was admitted to a hospital in Austria with severe pneumonia.

Celebrity hairdresser Fadi, 38, has reassured George’s millions of fans that he is improving and regaining his strength. “George is doing well and is in good spirits,” he said. “I have been seeing him each day and he is getting stronger all the time. George is trying to stay upbeat. He is smiling through it all and everyone is just willing him to get better.” Fadi says he felt compelled to break his silence about George’s illness amid increasingly worrying claims that the singer’s condition is worsening.

Reports yesterday emerged saying doctors had placed George in an induced coma at Vienna’s AKH Hospital suffering with the a severe lung condition called acute respiratory distress syndrome. It came a day after reports claimed he was deteriorating with a heart problem which had left him in severe pain. But Fadi, 38, insisted: “A lot of what has been reported isn’t true. I’ve been with him every day and his condition is getting better. His family and friends are very happy with his care. He is in the best place, getting the treatment he needs.”

Careless Whisper singer George was admitted to a private hospital on Monday after he fell ill while staying at Vienna’s exclusive Imperial Hotel with Fadi. The former Wham singer was later moved to the AKH Hospital where he was diagnosed with pneumonia. He is being constantly monitored by doctors. He fell ill just hours before he was due on stage in Vienna. The star has been forced to scrap 14 British gigs planned for the final leg of his European tour. He is likely to be bedridden until Christmas. George, who split from long-term partner Kenny Goss earlier this year, started dating Australian hair stylist Fadi less than a month ago. They enjoyed a romantic break in Venice, Italy two weeks ago and were seen on a boat ride on one of the city’s canals. They were also seen sunbathing on a hotel balcony together.

Fadi, who lives in London, has worked as a stylist to a string of stars including Naomi Campbell, Girls Aloud, Katherine Jenkins and the Pussycat Dolls. He said that since falling ill George has received hundreds of cards and messages of goodwill. “George has had so many get-well wishes and that has really been wonderful,” said Fadi. “It has helped to keep his spirits up.”

Professors Christoph Zielinksi and Thomas Staudinger, who are treating the singer, said: “George Michael has severe community acquired pneumonia. Complete rest and peace and quiet are mandatory.” His publicist Connie Filipello added: “The doctors have made clear George’s condition.Anything else being said is not true.”

My Top 10 Favourite Albums Of All Time - #4: All For You - Janet Jackson

In at number 4 is Janet Jackson's 'All For You'. This album is brilliant because it has everything. This was the first music I heard that introduced me to a different structure for an album. Brilliant singles, brilliant album tracks, it has everything.

My Top 10 Favourite Albums Of All Time - #5: HIStory - Michael Jackson

This album is amazing. Compared to his earlier stuff it is a much more heavy and aggressive album but it is full of so many brilliant songs, medleys and beats. 'They Don't Care About Us', 'Come Together', 'Stranger In Moscow', 'Little Susie' (which is a masterpeice) and 'Earth Song' all of which I can listen to over and over.

Ricky Gervais - Derek

Ricky Gervais is hoping to get Sean Connery on board for his next sitcom project. The comedian is apparently planning a new series named Derek, set in a retirement home, and he is hoping to get the veteran James Bond actor to join the cast. A source told The Sun: "They're filming a pilot in London. It's early days but it looks brilliant.. Ricky is in charge of the project and plays a man called Derek, living in an old people’s home, while Sean has been asked to play his elderly mate in the home.”

The insider added: "Ricky is keen to get it in the bag because Life's Too Short hasn't been getting great viewing figures." Gervais' current project follows dwarf actor Warwick Davis in a mockumentary as he attempts to get his career back on track. The most recent episode saw Johnny Depp guest star as himself, making reference to Gervais' controversial hosting of the Golden Globes. Meanwhile, Gervais is reportedly planning to team Davis up with Karl Pilkington for travel documentary The Short Way Round.

My Top 10 Favourite Albums Of All Time - #6: Back At One - Brian McKnight

This was one of the first albums I listened to as an album. I knew none of the songs from it apart from the title track. It was the first Brian McKnight album I heard and I was instantly hooked. He did things to songs I had never heard before and was amazed to find that he wrote everything. An amazing album full of ballads and brilliant R'n'B beats.

My Top 10 Favourite Albums Of All Time - #7: Secrets - Toni Braxton

This album made the list at number 7 because there is just so much greatness on every song. Usually I get bored with an album by about track 7 but this album gets better at that point. 'Talking In His Sleep', 'How Could An Angel Break My Heart' and 'Un-Break My Heart' are firm favourites but the whole album is just amazing. The album was released in 1996 and still sounds just as fresh as any new R'n'B album released today.

George Michael Taken To Hospital

George Michael has reportedly been rushed to a hospital in Vienna. According to reports, the British singer is suffering from severe pneumonia symptoms. Some blogs have said that he is in critical condition.

Austria's state broadcaster ORF said that Michael is being treated at the AKH hospital. Hospital officials have refused to comment on Michael's condition due to privacy rules.

Recently George Michael, 48, had to cancel his Vienna concert about two hours before the show was to begin. Event Organizers told people who came to the show that Michael was suffering from inflammation of the respiratory system. It is possible that these symptoms have gotten worse.

Will Young - Echoes Tour Setlist & Review

Here is the official set list for Will Young's latest tour to promote his newest album 'Echoes'.
  1. Come On
  2. I Just Want A Lover
  3. Hearts On Fire
  4. Changes
  5. Your Game
  6. Light My Fire
  7. Safe From Harm
  8. Outsider
  9. Silent Valentine
  10. Losing Myself
  11. Personal Thunder
  12. Who Am I
  13. You And I
  14. Switch It On
  15. Leave Right Now
  16. Running Up That Hill
  17. Evergreen
  18. Jealousy
Halfway through this excellent gig, the ceiling above Will Young opened, releasing a spray of heart-shaped confetti that covered the singer. It was an image redolent of his victory in the inaugural Pop Idol competition in 2002. But Young has long since shaken off the tag of reality-TV product. As this performance proved, a decade into his career, he has developed into one of pop’s most admirable assets. Better still, the best could be yet to come.

Young’s set was heavy with the atmospheric electro-pop from his latest chart-topping album, Echoes (released in August), a brave sideways shuffle in style away from his staple soul-inflected pop – perhaps ushering in his “experimental” phase. The new songs held up well in a live setting, driven by taut, melodic synth lines and grooving bass hooks.

Dressed head to toe in black, Young seemed relaxed and confident in the new sound, while his controlled, pitch-perfect quiver eased comfortably into third gear. It was sedate but impressive, prioritising rhythm and mood, and felt well suited to the intimate stage at the O2 Empire.

Perhaps it veered towards being too smooth and laid-back: only when Young began playing older hits was there a reminder of his incendiary singing ability. He revelled in the frenzied stop-start drama of blue-eyed gospel-soul hit Your Game, delivering a devastating vocal — which flitted between sultry and impetuous — and climbing a drum rack before hurling himself to the floor at the song’s violent conclusion.

Elsewhere, Young refused to disavow his route to stardom, returning with poise to the lounge-jazz cover of the Doors’ Light My Fire that he’d first sung on reaching the final 50 of Pop Idol. More surprising was the inclusion of Evergreen, the Westlife cover released as his first single, which was reimagined as a pulsing, hypnagogic sketch, dovetailing neatly with the work from Echoes.

My Top 10 Favourite Albums Of All Time - #8: The Woman In Me - Shania Twain

This is an amazing country album. From way back in 1995 this album is home to the first 8 hit singles from Shania Twain. The whole album is brilliant.

Mariah Carey & John Legend - When Christmas Comes

Here is the new single from Mariah Carey and John Legend. The song, which was issued to iTunes yesterday, will appear on Carey’s ‘Merry Christmas II You’ deluxe edition as well as Legend’s first Holiday album. Both records will debut next year. This is one of many Christmas albums this year. First was Justin Bieber's awkward to listen to 'Under The Mistletoe', then Lady Gaga's 'Very Gaga Holiday' (which apart from the title seems to be set to be a great 4-track album). This on the other hand is just two talented people making some lovely music.

Justin Bieber Takes DNA Test

Teen sensation Justin Bieber has taken a DNA test to prove false the claim from a California woman that he fathered her child, TMZ reports. Bieber, 17, had the test done Friday at a laboratory in New Jersey under "very controlled circumstances," sources told the gossip website - so his legal team could prove the sample was not tampered with at any time.

Last week, Bieber's longtime manager Scooter Braun said the teen pop star would agree to a paternity test to end the tabloid buzz after Mariah Yeater told Star magazine she had sex with Bieber after a concert in October 2010. The Baby singer vehemently denied the claim and said he had never met the California woman. Yeater, 20, now has a four-month-old son - who she previously alleged was fathered by various ex-boyfriends.

"I think it's important to hold people accountable for their actions," Braun said in an Extra interview with Maria Menounos November 18. "At the end of the day, we could shy away from it but I think it's important not only for [Bieber] but for all the people in his position to make a statement that it's not cool," he continued. "He's trying to be a role model and you're not going to come in and just slander him and walk away and everything's fine ... We're going to let people know that if we have to defend ourselves, there's going to be consequences to their actions," he added.

Over the weekend, Bieber and his girlfriend Selena Gomez shined on the red carpet of the American Music Awards. Though Bieber was nominated for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist, he lost out to R&B singer Bruno Mars.

Rihanna - We Found Love Banned In France

Rihanna's 'We Found Love' music video has been banned before the watershed in France after the love scenes were deemed too suggestive. The video - which details a destructive relationship between a couple, played by the Barbadian beauty and model Dudley O'Shaughnessy - can only be broadcast after 10pm because their love scenes were deemed too "suggestive" to watch before the watershed.

The promo has previously been slammed after it appeared to allude to the abusive relationship Rihanna had with her former boyfriend, Chris Brown, who pleaded guilty to assault in 2009, by showing the 23-year-old star and Dudley raving with friends, fighting and getting intimate with one another. Filming of the controversial mini-movie also angered a farmer in Belfast, Northern Ireland, earlier this year when he kicked Rihanna and her film crew out of his field because he was unhappy with her skimpy outfit.

Devout Christian Alan Graham said at the time: "If someone wants to borrow my field and things become inappropriate, then I say, 'Enough is enough'. I wish no ill will against Rihanna and her friends. Perhaps they could acquaint themselves with a greater God." However, Rihanna is proud of the promo, tweeting recently: "We've never done a video like this before. This is probably one of the deepest videos I've ever done. It's all about love and love being like a drug. You definitely get that from this.

Below is the video, which can be watched wherever you are, even in France. The joys of internet loop holes.

Mental News: Mens Willy Wipes

This is from international mens magazine 'attitude'.

'Summer may have been and gone, but we're betting you still get off the tube/other major UK transport system feeling a bit of a sweaty Betty. We're reckoning you still head out to 'the club' (as they say in popular music) and wonder if you're a bit whiffy. Well, new (relatively) to the UK, are Fellas Wipes - they're wipes, for fellas. They're the first product of its kind developed for your 'manatomy' - we assume that means your cock 'n' balls.

When cleanliness and freshness are imperative – a Fellas Wipes can work as a quick cleansing solution. (They come in a little foil wrapper, like a condom, which has the dual benefit of size and discretion). Fellas Wipes are dermatologically tested, pH balanced and free of harsh soaps and fragrances to ensure your ‘manatomy’ bits feel revitalised without any risk of irritation. They also smell/taste a bit like orange, which is a nice touch.'

Insted of needing a special wipe during the day, just have a shower in the morning, flippin' heck.

Doctor Who - The Movie

Harry Potter director David Yates is teaming up with the BBC to turn its iconic sci-fi TV series "Doctor Who" into a bigscreen franchise. Yates, who directed the last four Potter films, told Daily Variety that he is about to start work on developing a "Doctor Who" movie with Jane Tranter, head of L.A.-based BBC Worldwide Prods.

"We're looking at writers now. We're going to spend two to three years to get it right," he said. "It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena." Doctor Who follows the adventures across space and time of a super-intelligent alien in human form, who battles a variety of cosmic bad guys aided by plucky human companions. "The notion of the time-travelling Time Lord is such a strong one, because you can express story and drama in any dimension or time," Yates said.

The series ran from 1963 to 1989, and then was successfully rebooted in 2005 by writer Russell T. Davies and subsequently by Steven Moffat ("The Adventures of Tintin"). Tranter oversaw the revival when she was the BBC's drama topper in London. Doctor Who, starring Matt Smith as the 11th incarnation of the Doctor, is now one of the pubcaster's most lucrative global TV franchises. The series airs Stateside on BBC America.

Yates made clear that his movie adaptation would not follow on from the current TV series, but would take a completely fresh approach to the material. Russell T. Davies and then Steven Moffat have done their own transformations, which were fantastic, but we have to put that aside and start from scratch," he said.

Yates and Tranter are looking for writers on both sides of the Atlantic. "We want a British sensibility, but having said that, Steve Kloves wrote the Potter films and captured that British sensibility perfectly, so we are looking at American writers too," he explained.

There are two previous films, based on the TV series: "Doctor Who and the Daleks" (1965) and "Doctor Who: Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D." (1966), both starring Peter Cushing. The BBC has since made a few unsuccessful attempts to develop a "Doctor Who" feature, and shot a one-off telepic in 1996 at a time when the TV series was dormant. But the combination of Yates and Tranter means this is the most high-powered effort to date to launch "Doctor Who" onto the bigscreen.

Russell Howard Breaks His Fingers

Russell Howard was taken to hospital a few days ago after breaking fingers on his left hand while recording his BBC Three show 'Good News'. The injury, sustained during a stunt in which the comic performed a press-up on a chair, is not thought to be serious. He continued filming for 20 minutes and watched edited footage of the show before leaving for hospital.

One of the show’s writers, Karl Minns, confirmed on Twitter: ‘Russell Howard is alive and well, albeit with a busted hand. Have volunteered to punch in his PIN number for him. Now in Rio...’ Russell has his hand in a cast and will not be performing Laugh or the Polar Bear Gets It, a benefit for Friends of the Earth at Hammersmith Apollo tomorrow.

Dexter Renewed For 7th & 8th Season

It looks like we’ll be getting more of our favorite serial killer. Despite earlier reports of a troubled negotiations, Showtime has renewed Dexter for two more years. According to today’s announcement by David Nevins, Showtime’s President of Entertainment, production will begin on season seven in 2012 in Los Angeles. Seasons seven and eight will consist of 12 episodes each.

The Emmy-nominated Dexter opened its sixth season in October and continues to earn impressive ratings, most recently delivering its fifth consecutive week of growth. Season-to-date, the series is averaging 5.12 million weekly viewers on all platforms (including On Demand, replays and DVR), making it the highest rated season yet. Season six of Dexter is executive produced by John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Scott Buck, Manny Coto and Michael C. Hall. The series also stars Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Lauren Vélez, David Zayas, and James Remar.

“Dexter’s enormous success is a real tribute to the great achievements of its cast, producers, and the powerhouse performance of Michael C. Hall,” said Nevins. “The series is bigger than it’s ever been in its sixth season, both in terms of audience and its impact on the cultural landscape. Together with Michael, the creative team on the show has a very clear sense of where they intend to take the show over the next two seasons and, as a huge fan, I’m excited to watch the story of Dexter Morgan play out.”

Michael C. Hall added, “On behalf of the entire Dexter family, we relish the invitation to delve ever deeper into Dexter’s world.”
