Katy Perry and Justin Bieber have congratulated One Direction on their Stateside success, after their debut album Up All Night hit No.1 on US iTunes. 1D have managed to secure the top spot with the deluxe version of their LP, while the regular edition of the record is sitting pretty at No.2.

Niall Horan then took to the social-networking site to write: "thank you everyone who has bought Up All Night so far , ur amazing. (sic)". His tweet then got a reaction from Katy Perry - who was a guest judge on The X Factor in Ireland when Horan went through to boot camp - with the Firework singer tweeting: "congratulations, you didn't let me down! xo". Niall replied: "hey katy, thank you, let's hope it holds out this week! Thank you for putting me thru! we've been working hard,I won't let you down. (sic)"

In other One Direction news, the lads are said to be 'furious' with fellow UK boyband The Wanted after member Max George appeared to bad-mouth 1D, apparently calling them "children's magazine based." A source told Heat magazine: "They're angry about The Wanted slagging them off. They think it's a low blow and they were shocked that Max would say that."
