Eric Benét is an American singer. His duet with Tamia, 'Spend My Life With You' was a number one song for three weeks on the US Billboard R&B chart and was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2000. However very few people know who he is, let alone his music. Personally I feel his music is genius. Amazing melodies and beautiful vocal harmonies combined to create beautiful songs.
Benét's career, however, was interrupted by a series of personal tragedies. His father died of cancer. His girlfriend Tami Marie Stauff died on 29 April 1993 from injuries suffered in an automobile accident; their daughter, India, was born in 1991. From 2001 to 2005, he was married to Halle Berry. On 31 July 2011, he married Prince's ex-wife, Manuela Testolini, who is pregnant with their first child.
Sadly as a result his only hit remains to be his duet with Tamia, 'Spend My Life With You', which is definately worth a listen. However like most of the best artists, their best material is that which is not released as a single.
