Albums In Video: + - Ed Sheeran

+ is the debut studio album by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, released through Warner Music on 9 September 2011. The album marks Sheeran's commercial breakthrough, having previously released five EPs independently. Jake Gosling produced the majority of the album, with additional production coming from acclaimed American hip hop producer No I.D.

Upon release, + debuted atop of the UK Albums Chart with first-week sales exceeding 102,000 copies. Media interest surrounding + was fuelled significantly by its two preceding singles—'The A Team' and 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You'—which peaked at number three and number four on the UK Singles Chart respectively. 'Lego House' was released on 11 November 2011 as the album's third single and emulated the chart success of its predecessors, peaking at number five in the UK.

+ was the ninth biggest-selling album of 2011 in the UK, and has since been certified triple platinum by the BPI for sales domestic exceeding 900,000 copies. The album climbed back up to number one on the albums chart on 1 January 2012, fifteen weeks after it last peaked at the top. It was met with generally mixed reviews from music critics.

Total Recall Remake News

Len Wiseman has revealed that his remake of Total Recall is almost complete. The Underworld director is making a new version of the Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi thriller with Colin Farrell and his wife Kate Beckinsale. Both films are based on Philip K Dick's 1966 short story We Can Remember For You Wholesale.

Now, Wiseman has revealed that he is almost done with his movie. He told Coming Soon: "I'm very close to handing over my cut. It's going really well. The combination of mystery and emotion and action, it's coming together. Colin is a large part of that and I'm really happy with him."

He went on to describe the challenges of adapting such an intricate story. "I think the complexity of the dual stories was the most surprising and challenging thing. When you’re involved in... going back into the Philip K Dick story, you realise there is so much to be discussed about the dual stories.

There's the reality story and there’s the fantasy element. They're running parallel together, so you always have to keep those two alive. That’s the inherent nature of the concept and what makes the concept so cool.

The story concerns a construction worker who, wishing to visit Mars, is given commercial memory implants from a tourist company, until it becomes unclear which reality the real one and he may actually be a Martian freedom fighter himself.

The new Total Recall is released in the UK on August 22.

Resident Evil 6 Game - Trailer

While Resident Evil 6 has only just been announced, eagle-eyed fans are scouring the Internet for any new bits of information they can find. A product listing on Xbox.com confirms that co-op will be returning in Resident Evil 6--but it may be much more ambitious than what Resident Evil 5 offered. The "Features" section lists support for two player offline co-op, but another bullet point features six player online co-op.

In addition, it appears Resident Evil 6 will feature some other online multiplayer component, with support for up to eight players. Resident Evil 5 later offered a "Versus" mode via DLC, which allowed four players to go against each other in deathmatch combat.

The game's official Twitter (via Siliconera) also has a few additional tidbits about the game. Apparently, Resident Evil 6 has been in development for two years--which makes sense given it's been about two years since the release of Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition. A demo is being promised, but it won't be available until closer to release.
The return of zombies for Resident Evil 6 also promises the return of "survival horror elements... mixed in with classic Resident Evil moments." So yes, you may be jumping atop of helicopters and sliding into cover... but it won't be entirely action-packed.

Resident Evil 6 will be available on Xbox 360 and PS3 in November; a PC version will follow afterwards.

Star Trek 2 Will Be Bigger

Roberto Orci has confirmed that Star Trek 2 has a higher budget than its predecessor. The writer and producer spoke to fans at Trek Movie about the highly-anticipated sequel. "More," Orci responded when asked if the budget for the second film would be higher.

He added that the movie will increase in scale as well. "Bigger? Yup," he said when asked about the scope of the forthcoming film. Orci also revealed that "more" of the engine room will be seen in the sequel.

Filming on Star Trek 2 began this past week in Los Angeles. The movie is due for release on May 17, 2013.

Etta James Dies At 73

Legendary American singer Etta James has died aged 73 from complications caused by leukemia. James, who was memorably played by Beyoncé in the hit movie Cadillac Records, began her career while still a teenager in the 1950s and went on to become of the most influential singers in popular music history.

A multiple Grammy-winner, she was ranked 22nd on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. Adele recently cited her alongside Aretha Franklin as one of the two most important female vocalists of the 20th century, saying, "If you were to look up the word 'singer' in the dictionary, you'd see their names".

"This is a tremendous loss for the family, her friends and fans around the world," said her longtime friend and manager Lupe De Leon. "She was a true original who could sing it all. Her music defied category."

"I Have Nothing" is a song by American singer Whitney Houston and released as the third single from The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album on February 20, 1993 by Arista Records. The song was written by David Foster and Linda Thompson, and produced by Foster. The song is a richly orchestrated power ballad about deep love and commitment to one's lover.

After the back-to-back successes of Houston's "I Will Always Love You" and "I'm Every Woman," "I Have Nothing" became yet another hit, peaking at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and being certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The song also became a hit with a number four peak on the Billboard Hot R&B Singles and a number one peak on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.

Here is my favourite live performance of the song as extra.

Twilight Could Get More Sequels After Breaking Dawn Part 2

The Twilight franchise could spawn more sequels even though the last big-screen adaptation of the vampire novels is set to be released this year. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, which will hit cinemas on November 16, 2012, will tie in with the fourth and final novel in the series authored by Stephanie Meyer, and was also assumed to be the last instalment in the film series. But Jon Feltheimer – chief of Lionsgate, the studio responsible for overseeing the films – has hinted to the Los Angeles Time that the story could still continue even after the release of Breaking Dawn – Part 2.

"I'm anticipating Breaking Dawn – Part 2 being $700 million-plus (£457 million) in worldwide box office," said Feltheimer when asked about the likelihood of the franchise continuing. He went on to add:  It's hard for me to imagine a movie that does $700 million-plus that doesn't have ongoing value. It's an amazing franchise that they have done a great job of maintaining with absolutely no deterioration. So the simple answer is 'Boy I hope so'.

James Durbin - Stand Up - Music Video Teaser

Here is the teaser for James Durbin's upcoming music video for his new single 'Stand Up'.

Star Wars Underworld TV Spinoff

Star Wars producer Rick McCallum has described planned TV spinoff Underworld as "Empire Strikes Back on steroids". McCallum recently confirmed the working title for the project and later revealed that the final series would include "smugglers, gangsters [and] bounty hunters". "It's much darker [than the movies]," he told Collider. "It's a much more adult series. I think, thematically, in terms of characters and what they go through, it will be… the most awesome part of the whole franchise."

McCallum also compared Underworld to "[HBO drama] Deadwood in space". He explained: "It was to be serious performances, very complicated relationships, unbelievable issues of power and corruption, greed, vanity, pride, ego manifesting itself at levels that only equal the world that we live in now, but, as I said, on steroids."

Adding that production would not commence for "the next year or two years", McCallum explained that George Lucas plans to populate Underworld with "extraordinary digital characters", making the show financially prohibitive in the current economic climate. "Most people who love movies and... understand the process realise that if you do a character like Gollum or Jar Jar or any major digital character, that costs twice as much as having Tom Cruise in a movie," he suggested. "You get 150 people working for two years on a 40-minute performance and they all make serious money [so] that's gonna be a serious $20-30 million character. That's our problem, how do we get that down? "It's not a challenge that I think can be dealt with in the next year or two years, I think it's gonna be a little bit more longer term goal."

Jessie J & Ed Sheeran Plan Duet

Jessie J and Ed Sheeran are reportedly planning to collaborate on a single. The musicians, who dominate this year's Brit Awards nominations, want the duet to be "genuine". "Jessie and I are talking about a duet," Sheeran told the Daily Star Sunday. I don't want either of us simply to feature on the other person's song, I want it to be a genuine collaboration where we both sing equal amounts."

Speaking of his new-found success, he added: "I have somewhere to live finally. I even have my own bed and TV, which is a novelty. I treated myself to a massive 55-inch screen TV so I use that quite a bit but I don't really use the bed. "I am so used to sleeping on other people's sofas that I spend most nights on my own now." Sheeran recently teamed up with Example to record a song, while Jessie J is said to be writing tracks for Little Mix's debut album.

Dexter - Shows Future And Defence Of New Incest Storyline

At the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour Thursday, Showtime president David Nevins weathered a storm of Dexter-related questions, particularly regarding that controversial Season 6 twist that found Deb confronting her romantic feelings for her adoptive brother — a creative choice the exec vehemently defends. “I’m aware that there’s a certain taboo despite the fact that they’re not genetically related, but [this is] something that has been building over a number of years,” Nevins noted, claiming that this is “an idea that’s informed how they’ve done this show for a long time.”

Regarding the other big Season 6 reveal (i.e. Deb witnessing Dex’s Dark Passenger in action), Nevins said the turning point sets in motion “a very clear trajectory [for] the next two seasons, and it’s going to help to write with that endgame in mind. There should be fundamentally different dynamics now that Deb [knows about Dex] and it’s going to ricochet. “I’ve been pushing to shake up [Dexter's] formula a bit… so he’s not such a lone wolf,” he added. Speaking of the show’s “endgame,” Nevins conceded that Dexter‘s two-season pickup provides a “likely endpoint” for the saga, “but I’m allowing for the possibility that the plan can change.”

Beyonce Lets Fan Sing

Here is the famous clip of Beyonce allowing a fan to sing along to 'Halo' and likely regreting it after.

Madonna Breaks Silence On Lady Gaga Copying

Since leaping to fame in 2008, Lady Gaga has frequently been compared to Madonna. But the comparisons hit new heights last year when her No.1 single Born This Way was accused by some critics of emulating Madonna's 1989 hit Express Yourself. And after keeping quiet over the comparisons for nearly a year, Madonna has finally broken her silence.

Speaking on ABC show 20/20, the 53-year-old admitted she thought Born This Way sounded 'familiar' when she first heard it. When presenter Cynthia McFadden asked whether Madonna thought Gaga was 'copying' her, she initially praised the 25-year-old. She said: 'She's a very talented artist.  'I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it’s amusing and flattering and well done.'

Describing Gaga's work, she added: '(Her songs seem to be a) statement about taking something that was in the Zeitgeist, you know, 20 years ago and turning it inside out and reinterpreting it... 'There’s a lot of ways to look at it. I can’t really be annoyed by it... because, obviously, I’ve influenced her.'

Addressing Born This Way, which was released last February, Madonna elaborated: 'When I heard it on the radio …I said that sounds very familiar.' When McFadden asked if it was 'annoying', Madonna replied: 'It felt reductive.' Attempting to get Madonna to explain the word reductive - which means 'minimal' or 'crude', McFadden asked whether that was 'a good or bad thing', the singer replied: 'Look it up,' before smirking.

In an interview last year, Gaga was opened about Madonna's influence on her Born This Way album. She said: 'I genuinely love her so much. I think she is so amazing. She could never be replicated and, yes, I’m Italian, I’m from New York, and not for nothing, it’s not my fault that I kind of look like her, right? 'So, look, if anything, it’s more annoying to me that people would insinuate that I don’t like to be compared to her… She’s wonderful and inspiring and liberating, and she’s certainly inspired my album, as did David Bowie, as did Prince, as did Michael Jackson, as did Grace Jones, and I would never take that away.'
Despite any ill-feeling Madonna may have for her younger contemporary, the women have been pictured together several times.

First Picture From New Bond Film Skyfall

Daniel Craig won a legion of fans when he was pictured emerging from the ocean in a pair of Speedos.
And it seems the producers of the new James Bond film Skyfall have decided to take the same approach to promotion, as the first still shows the hunk posing in the almost identical trunks next to a swimming pool.
The picture was taken during filming at the fancy Four Seasons Hotel in London, but while it is the first photograph to come from movie many fans of the series are eager to see something a bit more action packed.

Nevertheless it shows that Daniel has managed to get back into the amazing shape that was the hallmark of the rugged, physical Bond he has portrayed since 2006's Casino Royale.

PS4 More Powerful Than Xbox 720

PlayStation 4's early technical specifications are looking "more powerful" than those of Microsoft's next-generation Xbox targets, according to PSM3's development sources. Reporting via a PS4 news special in its latest issue, which hits news stands on Wednesday, January 11, the mag cites sources suggesting that Microsoft's machine will beat Sony's to market "if only by months".

PSM3's sister mag, Xbox World, publishes a similar source-digging next-gen special in its issue out on the same day, claiming that the next Xbox will ship in late 2013 with a PowerPC-based processor from IBM and 'Kinect 2.0' out of the box. The latter matches up with previous reports, and according to Xbox World it's one reason PS4's looking like it might outperform 360's successor in the processing department.

With its next console Microsoft is looking to focus on "utility and innovation," the report says. The latest rumour reports arrive hours after MCV's claims that both PS4 and Xbox 720 will be shown at this year's E3.

According to the trade mag, Sony and Microsoft have both indicated to third-parties that they'll be showing off their next-generation machines at the Los Angeles show, spoiling Nintendo's Wii U re-reveal in the process. Read the full PS4 story in PSM3, on sale 11 January, where you'll also find a world-first review of Soulcalibur V, an in-depth look at Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, plus 20 essential tips on how to squeeze more from your PS3.

For insider knowledge on the next Xbox, read the complete story in Xbox World, where there's also an exclusive hands on with Mass Effect 3's single player campaign and an epic feature on the most beautiful, hard-to-find places in Skyrim. It's on sale 11 January.

Rihanna - Talk That Talk Announced As Rihanna's 3rd Single

Rihanna is set to release 'Talk That Talk' as her next single, it has been reported. The singer's next single, chosen by fans, will feature Jay-Z and Kanye West, according to Australian Music Report. The original version of the track only features Jay-Z and it is not yet known what part Kanye West will play in the single.

Last month Rihanna took to Twitter to ask fans what they thought her next single should be: She replied: "Ok DONE!!!! I like what I see...and decisions are MADE!!! #NEXTSINGLE. And we on da same page...(For the most part)."

Meanwhile, Rihanna has claimed the title of the biggest-selling digital artist of all time. The singer has beaten the likes of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Eminem after selling over 47.5 million downloads throughout her career. The Black Eyed Peas ranked in at number two with digital sales of 42.4 million, while Eminem took third place after selling 42.2 million downloads.

Jessie J - Domino - Music Video

Here is the new music video for 'Domino' from Jessie J.

Amazing Songs: No Son Of Mine - Genesis

This is a new feature I am starting on my site. Posting songs that are just amazing. The first is 'No Son Of Mine' by Genesis. 'No Son of Mine' is the first single by the British rock group Genesis from their 1991 album 'We Can't Dance', which reached #6 in the UK and #12 in the U.S. It made #8 on the Dutch Top 40.

The song's lyrics tell the story of a boy who runs away from his abusive home, and after some reconsideration attempts to return, only to be rebuked by his father. In interviews, Phil Collins has said that the lyrics are deliberately vague as to whether the narrator or his mother is the victim of the abuse.

The video for this song is particularly melancholic, illustrating the scene in sepia tone. The video essentially depicts what is discussed in the song, which is a conversation between a son and his father. During the last chorus snow flakes begin appearing flying wildly around the house, eventually at the end the scene pulls out to reveal the entire confrontation scenes take place in a snowglobe that the son is holding.
