Christina Aguilera - Lotus

Are you ready for the rebirth of Christina Aguilera? The judge of The Voice, swears that her new album, due out November 13, is her new introduction into the music world. With her last album Bionic failing to impress both critics and fans, her fifth studio album Lotus will be an answered prayer for Aguilera enthusiasts who were hoping she would return to her songstress roots that she had long abandoned for blandly produced dance electro tunes.

In fact, Aguilera is aware that she hasn’t hit the mark with her music in the past. Aguilera, tells Billboard magazine that she hasn’t felt this inspired by her music since the 2002 widely praised Stripped. Just to prove her point Aguilera previewed a few tracks off of her upcoming album, and surprisingly none of them have the likes of Linda Perry’s signature style on them. Perry, a frequent collaborator was not taped to contribute on this album, but instead Alex Da Kid, Candice Pillay, and Sia lent their hands to help produce the Lotus-like transformation.

Although Christina didn’t touch on why she didn’t tap Perry for the new album, she did share her opinion on why it’s good to mix it up sometimes. “I’ve worked with big and smaller people, and the more established people can get stuck in their ways and say they’re not open to critique,” said Aguilera. One listen to her first single off the new album, Your Body is enough confirmation that Christina Aguilera has left that unfocused poppy-electro sound for a simpler poppy dance track.

After hearing a few clips Billboard had this to say of the highly anticipated fifth studio album: “Like on Stripped, Aguilera dips into many genres-from dance-pop on “Your Body” and “Make the World Move” (a duet with fellow “Voice” coach Cee Lo Green), piano-driven power ballads (“Sing for Me,” Sia collaboration “Blank Page”) and rock-tinged empowerment anthems (“Army of Me,” “Cease Fire”). The album even opens with a quick sample of M83′s “Midnight City” on the title track, an experimental table-setter where Aguilera resolves to “leave the past behind/Say goodbye to the scared child inside.”

This fifth studio album marks her return back to the music industry which she has abandoned since joining to judge music competition and runaway hit The Voice. It was announced earlier this week that Aguilera would be taking a break from the show to embark on a possible tour in support of Lotus. Of the temporary departure Aguilera said, ”I’ll probably be back. I just need to do my thing for a minute, then I can come back and be that much better of a coach. I just need a second to get back to me.”
