My Own Songs: End Of This World

After whats happened in London and surrounding areas, a song that I wrote a few months ago seems like it needs to be posted.

End Of This World
James Betts, 2011

Fires are still raging, not enough water to put out this trouble
No idea what they’re doing or who is under the rubble
How many and how young before its time to stop
Wait til’ it’s someone you know

Do you know where your children are?
Because it's gone 12 o'clock
And they're somewhere out on the street
Just imagine how scared they are

Talk about another day in paradise

This devastation just has to stop before the devastation stops us
Sort a plan that brings us all together if it’s just for the sake of love
Don’t let this be the end of something, which could really be something
Nation form with nation for the sake of devastation

Save the man that is falling next to you, don’t kick him when he’s down
Save the girl who’s crying beside you, don’t just listen to the sounds
Maybe there is no one there to save you and offer redemption
Help everyone and anyone, bound by no exemption
Don’t wait til’ it’s someone you know

Do you know where your children are?
Because it's gone 12 o'clock

And they're somewhere out on the street
Just imagine how scared they are

Talk about heal the world

This devastation just has to stop before the devastation stops us
Sort a plan that brings us all together if it’s just for the sake of love
Don’t let this be the end of something, which could really be something
Nation form with nation for the sake of devastation

[CHANT]
Watch as they set fire to the flame
Nation form with nation for the sake of devastation
Watch as you don’t recognise the same
Nation form with nation for the sake of devastation

Walls are falling all around to reveal old battle lines
SOS received but nothing believed this time
Another child dies, another son, another girl
I don’t want to see the end of the world
Rules in place but no one to abide
When the days all finish and you know in time
If nothing ever changes, if no one fights to win this war,
If old mistakes are being held
Someday soon someone’s gonna see the end of this world

This devastation just has to stop before the devastation stops us
Sort a plan that brings us all together if it’s just for the sake of love
Don’t let this be the end of something, which could really be something
Nation form with nation for the sake of devastation

Nothing’s turned to something but nothing’s being done
Surely someone’s watching to finish what’s begun

'End Of This World' samples an unreleased Michael Jackson song entitled '12OClock (Do You Know Where Your Children Are?)'
