Carrie Cast For The Carrie Diaries

AnnaSophia Robb, best known for her role as gum-chewing brat in the box office success "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," has signed on to play an 18-year-old Carrie Bradshaw in CW's "The Carrie Diaries."

The prequel to "Sex and the City" hopes to attract a new demographic to the network by heralding back to the 1980s to reveal Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw character coming of age and moving to New York City. The show will feature Carrie "asking her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan."

18-year-old Robb, who was raised in Denver, Colorado, first gained prominence in 2005 playing starring roles in "Because of Winn-Dixie" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."

Robb, who attended Araphoe High School in Centennial Colorado, competed in gymnastics and dance for four and a half years, but left to focus on acting not long after making her small screen debut in a commercial for McDonald's.

Robb is also known for "Bridge to Terabithia" in 2007, "Race to Witch Mountain" in 2009, and "Soul Surfer" in 2011. For her first single she released for the "Bridge to Terabithia" soundtrack called "Keep Your Mind Wide Open," which reached no. 90 on the U.S. charts.

"They asked me to sing a song for the film, which was a little intimidating. I actually tried to quit a couple times. I'm glad I did it, because it was an experience I've never done before, and stretched me, and I had a good time, and it was a fun thing,"she said after the songs release.

Conrad Murray Loses Request For Release On Bond

Conrad Murray, convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of pop superstar Michael Jackson, was denied bail Friday pending his appeal and ordered to continue serving his four-year sentence, a California judge ruled.

During a hearing in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Judge Michael Pastor, who presided over the physician's trial last year, said Murray poses a danger to society and is a flight risk. "Dr. Murray's egregious conduct does concern me," Pastor said. In particular, he referred to Murray's only public statements about his conduct, which aired in a television interview following his conviction.

During his trial, Murray gave a documentary crew access to his defense team, and he gave a series of interviews chronicling his relationship with Jackson. Pastor cited Murray's apparent lack of remorse over Jackson's death and admonished him for neglecting to acknowledge the dangers of administering propofol outside a hospital setting during those interviews.

Last year, a jury found Murray guilty of being responsible for Jackson's 2009 death. Prosecutors argued that Murray's reckless use of the surgical anesthetic propofol to help Jackson sleep led to his death, while the defense contended Jackson self-administered the fatal dose, along with sedatives, without Murray knowing. "I did not tell Murray to give an interview for a television or documentary," Pastor said. "I was concerned over the attitude about the use of propofol in a home setting, and it scares me. This community demonstrated that Murray is a danger to other people," the judge said. Murray was not present during Friday's hearing.

In deeming Murray a flight risk, the judge said Murray had no property or employment ties to California and expressed concern that Murray could flee to another country and continue practicing medicine. "Dr. Murray does run a flight risk in view of his resources," said Pastor. Defense attorney Michael Flanagan argued that Murray would never ponder the idea of becoming a fugitive or leave his family behind. "Dr. Murray would be willing to subject to any conditions including an ankle bracelet or a GPS device," he said. "There is no place he can go."

Murray's four-year sentence, unless overturned on appeal, is expected to keep the doctor in jail for only two years because state rules give him credit for two days served for every one day behind bars. Murray's appellate lawyer, Valerie Wass, is challenging Pastor's decision against sequestering the jury during his manslaughter trial, which was broadcast around the world. Wass claims that widespread publicity was a substantial factor in Murray's conviction. The judge said he was not persuaded by Murray's defense claim, nor did it meet the legal standard of clear and convincing evidence that sequestration would have changed the outcome.

"I have never heard of a case overturned based on failure to sequester," said Pastor. Murray remains jailed in one of the nation's most crowded facilities. Wass said he is spending 23 hours a day in solitary confinement at the Los Angeles County Jail. "He is lucky to take a walk on the roof for one hour on Monday evenings," said Wass. "I visited him two days ago and he's lost about 30 to 40 pounds, but Murray is in good spirits."

American Idol Favourites Return For Live Shows

American Idol has set the bar high in terms of talent. Successful artists come out of this competition every year regardless of whether or not they win the top prize. This season some of your favorite past contestants return to perform their new music as we watch the current hopefuls compete to stand out.

According to The Hollywood Reporter included are Season 8 finalist Adam Lambert who is set to release his second album, 'Trespassing', this spring, Lauren Alaina the runner-up from Season 10 who released her debut album, ;Wildflower', this past October and James Durbin, the fourth place finalist from Season 10 who released his first album, 'Memories of a Beautiful Disaster', back in November. On the March 15th show Chris Daughtry will debut his new single 'Outta My Head' from the album 'Break The Spell'.

I'm hoping that with her latest success that Kelly Clarkson will also return to perform.

Madonna - Madonna World Tour 2012 - Set List

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

Madonna - Girl Gone Wild

Madonna premiered her second song 'Girl Gone Wild' on Monday. The new track is part of her upcoming album 'MDNA'. The pop icon performed her first single 'Give Me All Your Luvin' at the Superbowl in February with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.

'Girls Gone Wild' was recorded in London with producer DJ Benny Benassi, and his cousin -- Alle Benassi. The song was written by Vancouver native Jenson Vaughan. The music video was shot in the beginning of February and it was directed by fashion photographers Mert and Marcus, who also did the artwork for her album.

The singer’s fans will be familiar with the new music, since it focuses on getting back on the dance floor. The track is upbeat and funky, but also comes with a bit of a darker edge compared to 'Give Me All Your Luvin', which seemed to pay more of an homage to the singer's 80s roots.

The track was recently surrounded by controversy when Joe Francis -- known for his franchise with the same name -- complained about it, threatening to sue Madonna if she sang the song during her performance at the Super Bowl XLVI. After that, Madonna changed the name from 'Girls Gone Wild' to 'Girl Gone Wild'.

The hit 'Give Me All Your Luvin', dropped on Billboard's chart last week after climbing into the Top 10 the week before. The Material Girl's album 'MDNA' will hit stores on March 26 and her massive 2012 world tour will kick off on May 29 in Israel and then will head to North America in August.

Nokia 808 PureView - 41 Megapixel Camera - Review

Nokia has used Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona to out a cameraphone to rival all cameraphones - the Nokia 808 PureView offers a whopping 41-megapixel sensor.

While it's not going to win any awards for being the skinniest phone on the market, the tech under the hood of the 808 PureView is quite something. It's the first phone to feature Nokia's new PureView imaging technologies, which packages high-res sensors and excellent Carl Zeiss optics for a high-end imaging experience on your phone.

This PureView technology will enable you to shoot in two modes - standard resolution at up to eight megapixels and high resolution at up to 38 megapixels. In standard res you'll be able to zoom in before taking a shot without any loss of clarity. In high-res, you can capture your image, then zoom and crop later without missing a single detail.

As well as high quality stills, the 808 PureView also offers full HD 1080p video recording and debuts Nokia's Rich Recording tech. This means you can record CD-like sound quality previously only possible with an external microphone.

The Nokia PureView 808 will also feature Dolby Headphone technology, transforming any stereo content into a "personal surround sound experience" through your headphones. It'll also offer Dolby Digital Plus for 5.1 channel surround sound playback.

The Nokia 808 PureView has a UK release date of May 2012, with UK pricing to be confirmed.

Madonna - Masterpiece

'Masterpiece' is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Madonna. It was composed by Madonna, Julie Frost and Jimmy Harry and produced by Madonna and William Orbit. The song was created for the film, W.E. and included on the soundtrack album released by Interscope Records. The song won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song at the 69th Golden Globe Awards, but is ineligible for Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 84th Academy Awards. The song's nomination sparked a Golden Globes red carpet rivalry. 'Masterpiece' is played over the end credits of the film and will be included on her twelfth studio album, MDNA, whose release was confirmed to be in March 2012 by Madonna's manager Guy Oseary. This is alot better than her latest release 'Give Me All Your Luvin'.

George Michael At The Brits

He's not long recovered from pneumonia, but last night George Michael looked pleased to be back on stage. The 48-year-old singer made an appearance at the BRIT awards last night where he presented the award for British Album of the Year.

Wearing a smart black suit with a matching tie and sunglasses, the Faith singer walked out to a huge round of applause and cheers from the crowd at London's O2 Arena. Despite appearing a little incoherent, fans were clearly pleased to see George back in the public eye and he waited for the noise to die down before he began speaking. As he repeated himself a few times and mumbled a few irrelevant things, viewers began speculating about his appearance.

'I'd just like to say...I'd just like to say that I have been asked to come to this event for the last 17 years, he said. 'And I live a little way up the road, but I happen to know who's gonna win this one so I just came back from Australia.' He then looked down at his feet before laughing and adding: 'Let's take a look at the nominees.'

This short speech led Twitter users to start asking if he was 'drunk or stoned,' but many were still pleased to see him.

'Aww, George Michael looks really dapper and well. But drunk,' tweeted Lily W.

His public appearance at the BRITs comes after a diffIcult few months, some of which was spent in hospital. The former Wham! star as admitted to hospital in Vienna in November 2011 after complaining of chest pains at a hotel two hours prior to him performing. It was later confirmed that he had suffered from pneumonia and until December 1 was in an intensive-care unit.

But life is certainly back to normal as last week, George was holidaying down under with his boyfriend Fadi Fawaz. The couple looked relaxed and very much in love as they were spotted kicking back on a small rented boat that they picked up in Sydney Harbour.

The Faith singer has been keeping his followers updated with his health via his Twitter page. Earlier this month he wrote: 'People, I'm excited....just finishing a ballad that I think is going to make you think my eighties self has been re-born which I suppose it has in a way :) 'Even my tracheostomy scar is healing nicely in the sun, was looking a bit Bride of Chucky for a while. Spoke to doctors before I came away and they told me my recovery is way quicker than can usually be expected so I'm happy as Larry!'

Barbra Streisand To Release 12 DVD Set

Enjoying a working relationship that has spanned nearly half a century, it was announced that Ms. Streisand is extending her recording contract with Columbia Records. Beginning with “The Barbra Streisand Album” in 1963 through the most recent, her 2012 Grammy nominated “What Matters Most”, Barbra Streisand sings the lyrics of Alan and Marilyn Bergman.” Columbia and Barbra have enjoyed arguably the most successful consecutive collaboration in the history of recorded music, which includes number one albums in five consecutive decades; a feat that is unequaled by any other recording artist.

“From the day Goddard Lieberson signed me almost 50 years ago, Columbia Records has been my recording home, and I am thrilled to continue that partnership for many years to come,” stated Streisand.

She has released 62 albums with the music label, including number one albums: “People,” “The Way We Were,” “A Star Is Born,” “Barbra Streisand’s Greatest Hits, Volume 2,” “Guilty,” “The Broadway Album,” “Back To Broadway,” “Higher Ground,” and “Love Is The Answer.” Streisand’s music in film has also garnered multiple Academy Awards and Golden Globes.

“There are stars and there are superstars, and there’s Barbra Streisand,” said Steve Barnett, Chairman and COO, Columbia Records. “Home to Barbra’s recordings since 1962, Columbia Records is proud to play a vital role in her extraordinary career. We’re looking forward to the next chapter in our long and fruitful relationship.”

It was also announced today that Columbia Records will release a 12 DVD set, giving unprecedented access into her professional and personal life. The DVD set will consist of never before seen footage directly from Barbra’s archives, as well as milestones from her illustrious career.

An artist of unparalleled accomplishments in multiple entertainment fields, Streisand has made her mark as an award winning actress of stage and screen, recording artist, concert performer, film director, producer, screenwriter, songwriter, philanthropist, designer, photographer, author and activist. Barbra Streisand is the only artist ever to receive an Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Directors Guild of America, Golden Globe, National Medal of Arts and Peabody Awards as well as France’s Legion d’Honneur and the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award. She is, in fact, the recipient of 2 Oscars, 5 Emmys, 10 Grammys, a Tony and 12 Golden Globes including the Cecil B. DeMille Award. She is also the first female film director to receive the Kennedy Center Honors. The three films she directed received 14 Oscar nominations.

Barbra Streisand is the only recording artist to have number one albums in five consecutive decades. Her 51 gold albums, 30 platinum and 18 multi-platinum each of which, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, exceeds all other female singers. Her most recent Grammy nominated album, “What Matters Most,” was her 31st to reach the Top Ten in the ratings charts, with which she passed The Beatles to become the third highest achiever in that significant statistic, exceeded only by the Rolling Stones and Frank Sinatra. She is the only female among the top ten album-selling recording artists.

The Streisand Foundation has given millions of dollars in more than 2100 grants to over 700 non-profit organizations including her substantial underwriting of The Cedars-Sinai Barbra Streisand Women’s Cardiovascular Research and Education Program which addresses the leading cause of death among women in the United States, as well as men. Barbra Streisand was recently honored by the Cedars-Sinai Board of Governors for her generous support and dedication to the Cedars-Sinai Women’s Heart Center.

George Michael Interview 1998 - John Norris

Here is an amazing and honest interview with George Michael. He talks openly about his relationship, his arrest and his music.

Planned Sequels For 2012, 2013 & 2014

The Adventures Of Tin Tin

One of Hollywood's latest franchises will be The Adventures of Tintin, according to producer/director Steven Spielberg, who confirmed that Peter Jackson would direct a sequel between filming the Hobbit films. Spielberg told Total Film that he has planned Tintin as a trilogy, and though the storyline is being kept a secret, he did disclose that it would be based on more than one book from the comic series by the Belgian author Hergé.

With a proven track record and built-in audience, sequels to hit films often earn more than the original and thus prove to be a safe bet for Hollywood.

Transformers 4

It was announced February 14 that Michael Bay will return to direct the fourth installment in the Transformers film franchise, scheduled for 2014, but without Shia LaBeouf, who previously said he will not return.

Other sequels coming up include:
• Sylvester Stallone's Rambo 5
• Horror Comedy Beetlejuice 2
• This is 40 (sequel to Knocked Up)
• Real Steel 2 with Hugh Jackman
• Ghost Rider 3
• Waiting to Exhale's follow-up Getting to Happy
• The Fast and Furious 6

This weekend the sequel Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is in theaters, costarring Nicolas Cage, Idris Elba and Ciaran Hinds, and Wrath of the Titans, the follow-up to Clash of the Titans, releases March 30.

Also after a decade, American Reunion will return with the cast of American Pie 2 and Men in Black 3 in 3D releases May 25 with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.

Action thrillers and horror films are fan favorites with G.I. Joe: Retaliation opening June 29, the third in the franchise, and Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables II in August, as well as Resident Evil: Retribution, Taken 4, and Paranormal Activity 4.

Animated films this summer include the third go-round of Ice Age and Madagascar, and the popular dance series Step Up returns this July.

Reboots and prequels are another variation on the franchise theme, starting over with a new cast, and this summer delivers The Amazing Spider-Man, Total Recall, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Bourne Legacy.

Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated The Dark Knight Rises, starring Christian Bale, completes the trilogy, but Batman will live on, no doubt.

With the most successful film franchise Harry Potter completed, it is hoped The Hunger Games can repeat the prolific success, especially as another teen favorite, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2, releases its finale this November.

And the longest running franchise continues the legacy with Skyfall, the 23rd James Bond movie, hitting screens at the end of 2012.

Rihanna & Chris Brown - Birthday Cake (Remix)

Rihanna's new remix of 'Birthday Cake', which features her former boyfriend Chris Brown, has emerged online. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click to listen to the track. The pair hinted that they had worked together on a new collaboration yesterday (February 20) after Brown wished the singer a happy birthday on Twitter.

In the track, Brown's contribution is not a sublte one, introducing himself by saying "Girl, I wanna fuck you right now". He then goes on to add several other NFSW verses.

Last week (February 17), Brown denied using a chat-up line that referenced his assault of Rihanna. It was reported the singer, who attacked Rihanna on the evening of the 2009 Grammy Awards and was subsequently sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community labour, had approached a woman and said: "Can I get your number? I promise I won't beat you."

However, Brown released a statement which read: "That is absurd and absolutely not true. I did not say that nor would I joke about that." Earlier this month, (February 10), meanwhile, a US court rejected his plea to end his probation term. Brown has completed an anger management programme as part of his rehabilitation and has been praised by various judges throughout his probation, but Superior Court Judge George Lomeli insisted he should continue to regularly report to a probation officer in his home state of Virginia for another two years.

Whitney Houston - You Light Up My Life

When Michael Jackson died I found myself listening to 'Childhood', 'I Just Can't Stop Loving You' and 'One Day In Your Life'. Songs that I had never really liked growing up. They had different meanings to me once I was older. Since Whitney Houston died I have found myself playing 'Why Does It Hurt So Bad' over and over, but that is nothing new. Whitneys cover of 'You Light Up My Life' is a song I really started to hear differently after she died. It is from her 'Just Whitney' album and is one of her amazing ballads that leave u with goosebumps.

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection

In October 2010, Rihanna stated that she and Perry have been talking a lot about possibly working together, she stated: "We want to get in the studio and make something......maybe for her re-release. But we want to do something together for sure". In November 2010, Rihanna shed some further light on the duet, stating: "[Katy] sent me a song a while ago and she wanted me to be a part of it. I was like, 'Hell, yeah, of course'. She's my girl and the song is amazing. We'll be recording that together pretty soon".

In March 2011, Dr. Luke’s representative confirmed that Luke was finishing up a new single with Perry, he stated: "They just put the finishing touches on Katy’s newest [upcoming] single, which they created together in February 2011. They had a great time, and the single is amazing. He wishes Katy nothing but continued success and looks forward to working with her again soon”. Also in March 2011, when asked by More Magazine whether she would record a feline-inspired song, Perry replied: "I have a lot of those on the album already. I do have a song coming out in a few months that has a couple of cat references, but I think that's a little too saucy to talk about. I like to leave things a mystery".

In October 2011, Tricky Stewart told MTV that he is back in the studio with Perry working on leftovers from their Teenage Dream sessions. He stated: "Katy and I went into [the studio] just to address some issues with [the] records that we had done in the past that didn't end up going on Teenage Dream, so we are in the process of just listening and freshening up things and getting ready for something special she has going on", hinting that Teenage Dream would have a re-release. Stewart also added: "We always knew that the records we created were special [and] at the time it was more contractual obligation [that they did not make the album], I can only have so many songs produced by me on the album, and she honestly didn't need any more records, as you can tell by the success of this album, the songs have been flawless." Stewart said that one of the songs is titled "Dressin' Up", he said: "This song is really special. It's called 'Dressing Up,' so it's going to be a big record, I think, it definitely fits. It's right there in what her sensibilities are as a musician and a songwriter. She doesn't change much. She has a very keen musical taste. It'll be really good".

In January 2012, it was revealed by Amazon, Best Buy, and Billboard that Teenage Dream will be re-released on March 27, 2012 under the title Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection.

In February 2012, the cover art and details about Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection were revealed. It will contain the original album, plus 3 single remixes of "E.T." featuring American rapper Kanye West, "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" featuring also rapper Missy Elliott, and the acoustic version of "The One That Got Away". The package will also contain three new songs that didn't make the original cut of Teenage Dream, plus a megamix of the six singles, made by Tommie Sunshine.

Whitney Houston Funeral To Be Shown Online

Whitney Houston's funeral will be streamed live on the internet and, it was announced yesterday. The revelation will please her grieving fans, who were disappointed to learn that the star's funeral would be a private affair. There will also be no public memorial service for the iconic singer. But members of the public wishing to pay their respects to Ms Houston will be able to do so by following online as she is laid to rest. The Associated Press has been granted the right to film the ceremony, which takes place on Saturday in the singer's hometown of Newark, New Jersey.

The funeral will be streamed on the AP's website, and will also be made available to broadcasters. While the service at New Hope Baptist Church will be not be open to the public, that has not stopped Ms Houston's fans from bringing flowers as and other gifts as tributes to the singer.

The church, where Ms Houston sang as a child, has become one of several sites where people have gathered to remember the singer since her death last Saturday night at the age of 48. She is also being remembered by the New Jersey government, after governor Chris Christie ordered state buildings to lower their flags on the day of the funeral.

Ms Houston's decline from world-beating success into damaging drug addiction has been blamed by some on her turbulent marriage to singer Bobby Brown, and it has been reported that Ms Houston's family asked Mr Brown to stay away from her funeral.

However, he has insisted that those reports are false, and that he will attend the ceremony in order to support the couple's 18-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina. There is believed to have been disagreement among the Houston family as to where the singer should be buried. Whitney's mother Cissy and her cousin Dionne Warwick are said to have argued that she should be laid to rest in Atlanta, but other relatives who argued for Newark won the day. She may be buried alongside her father, army serviceman and entertainment executive John Houston, who died in 2003.

Whitney Houston Funeral Date Set

For every radio station spinning “I Will Always Love You” every hour on the hour, there’s been a tribute to Whitney Houston. Since the Grammy winner’s passing Saturday, celebrities and fans alike have poured out their grief. Confirmation of an official memorial, however, comes today, as Us Weekly reports that Houston’s funeral will take place Saturday, Feb. 18. The service, expected to begin at noon, will be held at the same New Jersey church she sang at as a girl.

Houston was found dead Saturday at the Beverly Hills Hilton, and according to Reuters, the 48-year-old's body arrived at a Newark, New Jersey funeral home around midnight Monday, apparently flown to the city via actor-producer-fatsuit-enthusiast Tyler Perry's private jet. As news spread, Reuters reports several dozen fans congregated at the facility, Whigham Funeral Home, lighting candles, dropping off mementos and singing Houston’s greatest hits.

The late diva's mother, singer Cissy Houston, was there as well, and stayed until 2 a.m., reports Us Weekly. But as plans for Houston's funeral go forward, it seems her service will be a strictly friends-and-family affair. According to the magazine, the funeral at New Hope Baptist Church is "invitation only."

Said the mag's source: "Anyone not invited will stand outside" -- and according to the Associated Press, many of those uninvited guests have already begun leaving tributes of flowers, balloons and candles outside the church's gates. A wake will not follow the service, Us Weekly reports.

Following news of Houston's passing, members of the performer’s family discussed the possibility of a public wake with AP, suggesting something would take place Thursday at Newark's Prudential Center -- a venue with an 18,000 person capacity. According to Us Weekly, however, those plans aren’t expected to go ahead. As per the mag’s source, Houston's mother "made it clear that a funeral must be inside a church, and the Prudential Center is not an appropriate venue."

Though Houston’s autopsy was completed Sunday, results are not expected for another six to eight weeks as the coroner's office conducts toxicology tests -- a fact which has hardly slowed speculative reports on the singer's cause of death. Though Houston was discovered in her hotel bathtub Saturday, partially submerged under water, TMZ's sources have ruled out a possible drowning, saying the coroner discovered Houston had passed before going under. Several reports have suggested drugs may have been a factor, and as the Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told AP, prescription meds were indeed discovered at the scene -- though he declined disclosing what specific drugs were found in Houston's room.

Speculation hasn’t been limited to that topic, however. Was Houston’s death a total shocker? Totally expected? That all depends on who you ask. Houston's self-destructive streak was infamous -- and it was also something she famously acknowledged. (In her 2002 interview with Diane Sawyer, for instance, she said her "biggest devil" wasn't alcohol or drugs, but rather herself. "I’m either my best friend or my worst enemy.")

Facts like that have led People magazine to suggest Houston’s inner circle saw her demise coming. "As sad as this sounds, it's not a great surprise and yet, it's unbelievable," one source told the magazine. The source continued: "She's been on a downward spiral for a long time and when you have those people around you that enable the behaviour ... she couldn't shake those demons."

Some of Houston's colleagues have taken a different view, though. The singer/actress had recently completed work on an upcoming movie -- a remake of 1976's Sparkle, set to arrive August 17 -- and a source from the set told E! News: "Whitney was in good shape and there weren't any major issues with her.” The source continued: "I'm shocked by the news, Whitney always had so many people around her, watching her."

Sony 'Sorry' For Whitney Houston Albums Price Increase

Record label Sony has apologised for increasing the price of two Whitney Houston albums in the UK, hours after her death on Saturday. The wholesale cost of the two LPs - Houston's Ultimate Collection and Greatest Hits - went up by about £3 each, causing an automatic price increase on iTunes.

In a statement, Sony said the albums had been "mistakenly mispriced". It added the error was "immediately corrected" once it had been discovered. Houston fans had taken to Twitter describing the price hike as "greedy" and "shameful".

Since Houston's death aged 48, her record sales have seen a major boost in the US and the UK. Several of her songs are on course to re-enter the UK singles top 40 on Sunday with a greatest hits compilation heading for the top 10. Houston's cover of the Dolly Parton single, I Will Always Love You, is likely to reach the top 10 on Sunday. The single, which featured in The Bodyguard, previously spent 10 weeks at number one and was the biggest selling single of 1992.

Stars Play Tribute To Whitney Houston

The music world has been remembering her life and career at the Grammy Awards. Host LL Cool J opened the event with a prayer for the singer, who won six Grammys during her career. "There is no way around this. We've had a death in our family," he said. "The only thing that feels right is to begin with a prayer for a woman who we loved - for our fallen sister, Whitney Houston."

The audience then gave a standing ovation after watching a clip of her hit I Will Always Love You. Dressed in black and with a simple piano accompaniment, singer Jennifer Hudson later gave a moving rendition of the same song, ending with the line: "Whitney, we will always love you."

Others paying tribute during the ceremony included singer Bruno Mars, who told the crowd: "Tonight we're celebrating the beautiful Miss Whitney Houston."

"To Whitney up in heaven, we all love you," echoed Stevie Wonder.

Melanie Fiona, who won best traditional R&B vocal performance and best R&B song, said: "Whitney Houston, I would not be standing up here if it were not for you."

Reactions to Houston's death dominated the ceremony, the most high-profile event in the US music calendar.

Before the show, Jimmy Jam, a friend and producer of Houston's, said it was "a bitter-sweet occasion. Anytime someone passes away, the thing you do is you gather your family together [and] tell stories," he said. "A little bit of mourning, little bit of celebrating - this is our family tonight and we're going to do it the best that we can do it."

Earlier on Sunday, the Reverend Al Sharpton paid tribute to Houston while preaching at the Second Baptist Church in Los Angeles. "Yes, she had an outstanding range," he said. "Yes, she could hit notes no one else could reach. But what made her different was she was born and bred in the bosom of the black church.

Meanwhile, Houston's 18-year-old daughter Bobbi has been released from hospital after being treated for stress and anxiety following her mother's death.

Houston holds the record for having the most consecutive chart-topping singles in the US, reaching number one seven times between 1985 and 1988. But her later career was overshadowed by substance abuse and her turbulent marriage to singer Bobby Brown. In recent years drug use had taken its toll on the star and her voice - once acknowledged as one of the finest in pop music - was badly damaged.
