HBO's Looking Renewed For A Second Season

Looking has been renewed for a second season, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed.

The HBO show, which stars former Glee actor Jonathan Groff, began in the UK on Sky Atlantic in January and follows the lives of a group of gay friends living in San Francisco.

For the second season, Britain’s Russell Tovey, who appears as Kevin, has been promoted to a series regular alongside the lead trio of Groff (Paddy), Murray Bartlett (Dom) and Frankie J. Alvarez (Agustin).

Lauren Weedma, who plays Doris, and Raul Castillo, who appears as Richie, have also been made series regulars.

The second season will begin filming later this year (2014), once again in and around San Francisco and the Bay Area.

In the US, two episodes of the eight-episode first season are yet to air, while in the UK there are still three episodes remaining.

Will HBO's 'Looking' Get A Second Series?

The creator of Looking has discussed the chances of the show returning for a second season.

The comedy-drama starring Jonathan Groff, Murray Bartlett and Frankie J Alvarez launched on US network HBO in January and is now six episodes into its eight-episode run. In the UK, Looking is being shown on Sky Atlantic.

Asked about a second season by Gay Star News on Tuesday (February 18), the show’s creator Mike Lannan replied: “I’m really hopeful. HBO has been really supportive of the show from the beginning and they’ve been really proud of it.”

Continuing, Lannan admitted that he and the creative team have already begun to devise possible storylines for a second season. “We’re thinking about it in preparation of getting picked up but we can’t really work on it until we get that signal [from HBO],” he said, before adding: “It could be any time – it could be in the next few weeks.”

George Michael - A Different Corner - Symphonica Album Version

Beautiful version from George Michael's upcoming Symphonica album.

Kylie Minogue - Kiss Me Once - Album Review

Kylie’s 12th studio album, Kiss Me Once, isn’t released until March 17, but we’ve been treated to a sneaky upfront listen and here are our first impressions on each of the 11 tracks (review by Attitude.co.uk)

Into the Blue
The lead single, as you know, is a totally lovely slice of age-appropriate dance-pop – and if that sounds like a back-handed compliment, it isn’t meant as one. The more we listen to it, the more we notice the sadness in the lyrics. “I don’t care if the world is mine / ‘Cause this is all we know” is a little bit devastasting, in a way, isn’t it?

Million Miles
The album’s most straight up #banger is a close-ish relative to Get Outta My Way from Aphrodite – both tracks were produced by Danish hitmaker Cutfather. This time, Kylie’s trying to attract the attention of a guy who, *sigh*, barely seems to know she exists. “I feel so invisible, invisible…” she sings on the brilliant middle eight. Totally addictive; this should definitely be a single.

I Was Gonna Cancel
It’s immediately obvious this is a Pharrell Williams production, but the Blurred Lines beatmaker has – and here comes a technical term – “Kylied up” his trademark sound a bit. I Was Gonna Cancel is a little more disco than most of his productions (it uses Chic-like bells throughout) and a bit less flinty too. The lyrics are basically Kylie telling herself to stop fannying about and get on with it. “Go! Go! Go! Go girl!” goes one catchy refrain. Fabulous.

Sexy Love
OK, so that isn’t the most promising of track titles, but this tune is a keeper. It’s classic Kylie disco-pop with a hint of Nicki Minaj’s Starships to the intro, a chorus hook that’ll snag you like a barbed wire fence, and a brilliantly simple refrain towards the end: “You look so sexy, so sexy in my head / You look so sexy, sexy in my bed.” Pretty irresistible.

Sexercize
If you’d told Kylie when she left Neighbours in 1989 that 25 years later she’d be singing a song called Sexercize, she’d probably have shoved one of Charlene’s spanners up your… Anyway, this one’s a grindy midtempo track, flecked with dubstep, that features the world “sexercize” a lot. We’re not really feeling it, tbh.

Feels So Good
This cover of Indiana by Tom Aspaul – renamed with a more Kylie title – is pure class. It’s a percolating midtempo electro track with effortlessly romantic lyrics (“People come, people go, but I’d like to get to know you now”) that manages, somehow, to feel understated and euphoric at the same time. And she really nails the vocal.

If Only
This is a slow-building electro track with R&B flourishes – including a heavily-processed “oh-oh-oh-oh” vocal hook that some old-school Kylie fans might think a bit crass. She gets to show off her upper register on the string-swathed climax though, and the song itself is a grower. Very much an album track, but a perfectly respectable one.

Les Sex
Sadly it’s not about lady-on-lady action – for the purposes of this song “les sex” seems to mean “the sex, plural”. We think so, anyway. Kylie performed this song at her surprise gig on Thursday night, which suggests it’s at least in the running to become a single. It’s certainly as catchy as anything they deal with down the STD Clinic, and it doesn’t mess about, launching straight into its electro-funkin’ chorus, which Kylie sings in word-perfect Franglais. It also includes the lyric “If love’s a drug, we’re higher than stilettos”, which we quite like, though we know we probably shouldn’t.

Kiss Me Once
The last Kylie album, Aphrophite, had an amazing anthemic title track – and so does this one. Kiss Me Once was co-written by Sia and you can tell – it’s gorgeously melodic and the lyrics capture the rush of falling in love brilliantly. “Me and you, baby we made it through / Me and you, we’ve got some loving to do,” Kylie sings on the chorus. It’s all just so life-affirming.

Beautiful – duet with Enrique Iglesias
You’ve heard this one now, right? Click here if not. It’s a dreamy love-drunk ballad with loads of reverb on both Kylie and ‘Rique’s vocals, and a hint of ABBA’s Chiquitita to its melody. It’s a pretty tune, but perhaps not the surefire single that Mr Iglesias seems to think it is.

Fine
At first, this album closer has a whiff of filler about it, but after a few plays, its swirling electro pulse starts to grow on you… and then you notice that the lyrics seem to be pretty personal and revealing – possibly, anyway; this is post-Impossible Princess Kylie after all. “You’ve got it all but you don’t feel complete / Even the sweetest things are bittersweet,” she sings on the second verse. Intriguing.

Pixie Lott - Heart Cry - Music Video

Its good to see Pixie Lott return to her old sound! Although it may be too late because a lot of people have stopped listening to her it seems.

Rihanna - The Collection

I decided to put together a collection of the greatest hits from Rihanna. She has had so many hits and so many featuring duets that make this collection amazing. With solo greats such as 'Unfaithful', 'We Found Love', 'S&M', 'Diamonds', 'Umbrella' featuring Jay Z, 'Shut Up And Drive', 'Only Girl (In The World)' and 'Stay' featuring Mikky Ekko. The album also incorporates amazing songs which Rihanna heavily featured in, such as, Eminem's 'Love The Way You Lie' and 'Monster', Kanye West's 'All Of The Lights', Coldplay's 'Princess Of China' and her most recent hit with Shakira, 'Can't Remember To Forget You'.

Toni Braxton - The Ultimate Playist

Usually some of the lesser known, less commercial, songs from an artist are the best. Toni Braxton is alot like that. Whether the songs come from the same album, are a remix, live version or a cover version, this is just what I consider the best 10 works of Toni Braxton.
  • Fairy Tale
    • Originally from her 2000, 'The Heat', album, 'Fairy Tale' is an acoustic guitar led song, written by Babyface. The song is brilliant and shows off how gentle her voice can be.
  •  Hurt You (with Babyface)
    • Taken from her most recent album, a duet album with Babyface, this song has a great beat and even better lyrics.
  • How Could An Angel Break My Heart
    • One of the nicest love songs ever written. The words to this song a amazing and it has the ability to never get old.
  • The Time Of Our Lives (with Il Divo)
    • While this song has never featured on any official Toni Braxton studio album, it remains one of her best songs. Her voice is amazing in this song and being backed by Il Divo just adds to the greatness.
  • I Wanna Be (Your Baby)
    • Another great acoustic guitar led track and again written by Babyface.
  • Yesterday (feat. Trey Songz)
    • This is the American version of the song, as the standard edition didn't feature Trey Songz, however I feel that this song is better as a duet. Brilliant words and a brilliant beat.
  •  Woman
    • This is a cover of a Delta Goodrem track, but Toni Braxton makes it hers by giving an amazing vocal. This is from her 2010 album, 'Pulse'
  • Why Wont You Love Me
    • This song is also from her 2010 album, 'Pulse'. It closes the album and does it well. It has a very distinctive sound and is very dark but is a great song.
  •  The Little Things
    • This is a very rare Toni Braxton song, yet it is one of her best. Originally from her 'Ultimate Toni Braxton' album, this was an unreleased song on the album.
  • Un-Break My Heart (Soul Hex Anthem Vocal Edit)
    • While the album version of this song is amazing, this remix offers something different. Adding an incredible bass beat to the song makes it even more powerful. Some really interesting moments in this version.

Kylie Performs A Suprise Gig At London Pub

Kylie Minogue played a surprise gig at a pub in East London earlier this evening (February 13).

The much-loved pop singer took to the stage shortly after 9.30pm at The Old Blue Last in Shoreditch and launched into her iconic 2001 chart-topper 'Can’t Get You Out of My Head'. Kylie, rocking a sequinned mini-dress and blonde bob, was joined on stage at the low-key, packed venue by a troupe of four female backing dancers.

“Just an ordinary Thursday night down the pub,” she quipped at the end of the song, winning a laugh from a crowd of journalists, hardcore Kylie fans and drag queens.

She then gave the first ever live performance of 'Les Sex', a track from her forthcoming album Kiss Me Once, before rounding off her three-song set with a rendition of new single 'Into the Blue'. During the gig, she sipped from a water bottle that she said was “actually filled with vodka”.

After departing the stage, Kylie climbed the stairs to the top floor of the pub and took part in a short bingo session, drawing numbers for a lucky bunch of punters.

Kylie will release 'Into the Blue' on March 9, followed by the album Kiss Me Once on March 17.

Albums In Video: ... But Seriously - Phil Collins

'...But Seriously' is the fourth full-length studio album by Phil Collins. While much of the album follows the same formula as Collins' previous album, No Jacket Required (1985), there was also a move towards more organic production as Collins chose to utilise live instrumentation instead of drum machines and prominently used keyboards.

The tone of the album is serious, as the title suggests. Instead of focusing entirely on personal relationships, dark psychedelics, and simple fun, Collins expands his focus to the exploration of socio-economic and political themes. There is great emotional turmoil underneath the polished studio production, and many of the songs are unambiguous and unveiled in their melancholy.

The album spawned many of Collins' most memorable hits. The classic 'Another Day In Paradise', 'Something Happened On The Way To Heaven', 'Hang In Long Enough' and the lesser known but equally as brilliant 'Do You Remember?' and 'That's Just The Way It Is'. With thanks to a hugely successful tour, the album also saw promotional video's for the album, such as 'Colours' and 'All Of My Life', regardless of the songs not being released as singles.

These are the lesser known promotional videos for the album.

Albums In Video: Loud - Rihanna

Loud is the fifth studio album by Barbadian singer Rihanna, released in November 2010 by Def Jam Recordings. It was recorded between February and August 2010, during the singer's Last Girl on Earth Tour and the filming of her first feature film Battleship. Rihanna was the executive producer of the album and worked with many record producers, including StarGate, Sandy Vee, The Runners, Tricky Stewart and Alex da Kid. The album featured several guest vocalists, including rappers Drake, Nicki Minaj and Eminem, who is featured on the sequel to "Love the Way You Lie", titled "Love the Way You Lie (Part II).

The album differed from Rihanna's 2009 release, Rated R, which incorporated a prominently foreboding and angry tone with dark themes and contained elements of hip hop, rock, and dubstep music genres. Loud featured up-tempo and pop genres, ranging from dance-pop to electro-R&B, and marked the return to her dancehall roots, which was prominent on Rihanna's first two albums "Music of the Sun" (2005) and "A Girl like Me" (2006). The album also incorporated rock in "California King Bed" and reggae in the Caribbean inspired "Man Down".

The album produced seven singles, including the international hits "Only Girl (In the World)", "What's My Name?", and "S&M". All three singles reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. "S&M" was Rihanna's tenth number one song in the US, making Rihanna the youngest recording artist to accumulate the plateau in the shortest time, surpassing Mariah Carey's record. "Only Girl (In the World)" won the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording in February 2011; additionally, the album was nominated for three more Grammy Awards, including for Album of the Year. To support the album, Rihanna embarked on her third worldwide concert tour, entitled the "Loud Tour".

The album's singles produced some amazing music videos. Including the remember-able 'Only Girl (In The World)', the soft 'California King Bed' and the eccentric 'S&M'. Herre are all the music video produced from the Loud era.

While it does not appear on the album, many felt as though it should have, and 'Who's That Chick' was a very good song. Another song that failed to make the album, yet was a big hit, was 'Fly' a duet with Nicki Minaj.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Tribute Album Announced

Emeli Sandé, Ed Sheeran and Miguel will contribute to a tribute album for Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. The singer's 1973 double-album will be reissued in March with a new book, bonus DVD, and a live recording of his December 1973 gig at the Hammersmith Odeon in London.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road will be available in five different physical editions, from vinyl to CD to Blu-Ray, as well as digital equivalents. On the accompanying nine-track covers CD, a wide array of acts have taken on Sir Elton's classics, ranging from UK stars like Sandé and Imelda May to American artists like the Band Perry and the Zac Brown Band.

In addition to the re-mastered musical set, this release marks the reissue of Bryan Forbes' long out of print documentary, Elton John And Bernie Taupin Say Goodbye To Norma Jean And Other Things. Shot over the course of a year, this movie traced the making of what became one of Sir Elton's most successful records. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road spent two weeks at No 1 and has sold more than 31 million copies worldwide.

Around the same time that Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is reissued, on 24 March, cinemas across the globe will begin showing The Million Dollar Piano, a concert film based on Sir Elton's ongoing Las Vegas residency. Screening times and dates are listed here. "I am so very proud of the show," the Candle In The Wind star told Rolling Stone. "It has something for everyone."

The albums tracklist is as follows:
  1. Candle In The Wind (Ed Sheeran)
  2. Bennie And The Jets (Miguel feat. Wale)
  3. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (Hunter Hayes)
  4. Grey Seal (The Band Perry)
  5. Sweet Painted Lady (John Grant)
  6. All The Girls Love Alice (Emeli Sande)
  7. Your Sister Can't Twist (But She Can Sure Rock N' Roll) (Imelda May)
  8. Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting) (Fall Out Boy)
  9. Harmony (Zac Brown Band)

George Michael - Symphonica 2 Tour - Set List

If George Michael continued his Symphonica Tour to promote his new 'Symphonica' album, this show is what I would like to see. Using a fewer songs from the first Symphonica Tour as possible, this show would feature heavily on the fan favorites. Performing songs that haven't been performed for many years, if ever, such as 'They Won't Go When I Go', 'Something To Save', 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me' and 'I Can't Make You Love Me'. This show would feel like a return to the golden days of George Michael, using songs primarily from 'Listen Without Prejudice, Vol. 1' and 'Older'. While at the same time featuring only one song from 'Patience' ('Amazing') and only few songs from 'Songs From The Last Century' ('Wild Is The Wind', 'Secret Love' and 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face') to make the show feel as different from the first Symphonica Tour as possible. The show would also feature many covers, such as 'Song To The Siren', 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me', 'Idol', 'They Won't Go When I Go' and the Queen classic, 'These Are The Days Of Our Lives'.
